Today I was asked to make pizza and the special request was for the dough to be paper thin and crunchy. This is how I like it and it is the reason I'm making my own pizza at home. When you go to a pizza bar, you eat what it is served and you either like it, get used to it, or not. When you are making pizza at home, you have the opportunity to try to work out the best pizza.
Last time I tried out a new recipe, the dough came out pretty thick. I'm not saying it wasn't good, but a thinner dough is way better for me.
Today I chose a different recipe, or I should say adjusted my old recipe to fit my expectations. So let's see what I did.
Ingredients:
- 320g all purpose flour,
- 2 tsp olive oil,
- 4 g dry yeast,
- 8 g salt,
- 180 ml lukewarm water,
- pizza sauce,
- sweet corn,
- grated cheese.
Method
The method is pretty simple and similar to the other recipes. Put the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, add the oil, then add the lukewarm water and make a dough. Add some extra flour if necessary, so you don't get a sticky dough.
Place the dough in a bowl, sprinkle with a little flour (optional), cover with a clean table cloth or a plastic foil and let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. I did not want a thick dough, so did not let rest for an hour.
The dough did not double in size, but it that was intentional and perfect.
This dough is basically for two pizza, not too large either. I made the dough as thin as possible, I think it was 2mm or max 3mm.
The next step was to spread the pizza sauce over the dough.
Added the canned sweet corn.
The the grated cheese on the top and placed into the preheated oven. Needed 20 minutes at 180C.
And voila! The pizza is ready!
Thin and crunchy, exactly how I wanted it.
Hurry up, there are still a few slices left!
I like them thin too. Yours is slightly thicker than mine. At some point I wanna try to make a real paper thin one though just for the YOLO 🙂 Bon Appetit!
You should go to the Netherlands, they serve pizza on crêpe.
🤣
Don't laugh as it's true. I had one and because the dough was so thin and did not hold the top, I had to collect every piece of corn and salami with my fork. Worked for 30 minutes to be able to pick up everything from my plate 😳
Haha I can imagine. I can find this stuff here too but no thanks. Thin yes but soft no. part of the fun of a pizza is a bit of crunchiness apart from the fact that it makes it more user friendly.
Thank you, I'll have 2 eheheh
Open your window, 2 slices on their way to you.
