Sometimes you crave something fancy, and the internet is sure to provide you with ample recipes of simple ingredients that you can transform into something really delicious.

My fiance recently showed me a recipe she wanted made with baked brie chees, honey, and chilli flakes.

I also added to this recipe some camembert, salami, and figs! (This is based on a pizza from our favourite pizza joint; salami, honey, basil, and chilli flakes.)

I know the baked brie thing was a trend on social media a while ago, but for good reason! It is an amazing "dip" if you want to call it that.

I used tin foil to bake the cheese in, but my fiance is already looking at bowls designed especially for baked brie, that is how much she liked it!

Without further ado, follow along with me as I show you how I make this delicious cheesy dip.

Ingredients/Recipe

I made two different dips, so I used two different cheeses, brie and camembert. I also added some different spices to the original recipe. Here, I used the following ingredients to make two baked cheeses enough for two people as a main dish:

  • 1 block of brie and camembert,
  • 1 tbs of honey,
  • 1 tbs of olive oil,
  • couple of sprigs of basil,
  • couple of sprigs of rosemary,
  • 100 grams or so of salami, and
  • 2-3 preserved figs.

Method/Process

Cut the Cheese

The process begins with cutting the cheese mould rind into these strange patterns. In the end, this will make the cheese into a "dip" because without this the mould rind will not break, and you will not be able to "dip" your bread or cookies in it.

Decorate the Cheese

After cutting the cheese, you need to decorate it with whatever you fancy.

We did two versions, both containing the honey spread we made. I added equal parts honey and olive oil, vigorously mixed this, and it turned into double the amount of honey!

As you add this to the cheese, the herbs will not burn (because of the added oil) and it will make your honey "last longer", in the sense that you will have double the amount of honey. Plus, it makes a kind of sauce in the end. Olive oil, honey, and cheese make for an incredible combination.

I added the herbs and spices in the nooks and crannies of the cheese, and then I added the olive oil-honey mixture on top of that.

For the other recipe, I wrapped the cheese in salami pieces. Crispy baked salami is really such a good compliment to the baked cheeses. Especially with the basil and honey.

Bake and Enjoy!

And then I baked both these cheeses for about 5-10 minutes at 180 C. It depends on your oven, how powerful it is, and how much honey you use. Sugar burns rather quickly, and by adding the olive oil, it helps from burning too quickly. But as soon as the cheese is really melted then the dish is ready to serve!

At first, it is kind of a struggle to get the cheese out of the foil and onto a plate for presentation purposes. And this is why the brie baking dish would be such a good thing to have.

But as soon as you get the cheese out, and the honey olive oil and cheese sauce, you are in for a treat. The melted cheese with the many different flavours works tremendously well. From salami and basil, to chilli and honey, to fig pieces with both the previously mentioned two, everything works just so well.

I really hope that you will try this recipe!

Have you tried to make your own baked brie cheese? Let me know!

For now, happy cooking, and keep well.

All of the musings and writings are my own, and the "recipe" is also my own, albeit adapted from the viral baked brie recipes found all over the internet. The photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300.

Thank you so much! I saw a video recently where they bake brie with bread around it. I might rewrite my recipe with this in mind! Focaccia with baked brie in the centre...

As a cheese lover I'm melting in front of your photos, and I love brie so much but camembert too, it's like heaven to me ❤️❤️😍

I am so glad! It was amazing and we did make this again after I posted it! My fiance is in love with baked brie! I want to tweak the recipe a bit, maybe I will post it again in this tweaked form! Enjoy.
