Hallo zusammen , es ist wieder Herbst und die Quitten sind reif.Ich sehe die Quittenbäume in Gärten wenn ich mit dem Hund laufe oder mit dem Rad fahre. Und der Grund , warum mich das so beschäftigt ist, daß soviele Quittenbäume nicht abgeerntet werden und die Früchte verfaulen. Will die denn keiner?? Man könnte grad meinen ihre grelle gelbe Farbe schreit nach „seht ihr mich nicht? Diese wundervollen Früchte schmecken so fein und sind obendrein noch gesund! Ok , es ist schon richtig Arbeit die Quitten zu Saft und Gelee zu verarbeiten, aber ich liebe es stundenlang in der Küche zu wursteln !
Dieses Jahr bekam ich Birnenquitten von einem solchen Baum …. Es fühlt sich gut an,bin ich jetzt Foodretter? Egal ich schätze jede einzelne Frucht! Und hatte einen Zentner vor mir 🤗
Ich freute mich riesig und startete gleich durch.
-Waschen und jede Frucht abreiben, vom Pelz befreien, da dieser bitter schmeckt.
-Ausschneiden und zerkleinern (ok da braucht es Kraft und ein gutes Messer)
- In den Entsafter füllen und 1 1/2 Std kochen
In der Zeit mache ich Ordnung und genieße den Geruch, der sich im ganzen Haus ausbreitet und den Herbst willkommen heißt! Der Saft sammelt sich im mittleren Topf ,den man mit einem Schlauch ablassen kann. Einen Tag lasse ich den Saft stehen und koche am nächsten Tag daraus das Gelee. Ein paar Tropfen Zitronensaft dazu und 2:1 Gelierzucker!
Abfüllen …. Vorsicht heiß!
Und zum Abschluß hab ich noch Etiketten gestaltet und gedruckt .
Letzten Sonntag habe ich Scones gebacken , Butter drauf und Quittengelee…. Megalecker!
Das Quittenverarbeiten zog sich über 2 Wochen . Ich bekam nochmal 4 Eimer voll Quitten, dafür war der Baum abgeerntet und von den Überresten vom letzten Jahr befreit! Mir reicht es jetzt , aber nächsten Herbst, wenn die Vorräte ausgegangen sind , freu ich mich wieder aufs Neue , dieser Frucht meine Wertschätzung und Aufmerksamkeit zu schenken!

Super, frage mich frade machst du das zum Verkaufen oder nur für dich? Weil sieht ja schon recht professionell aus.
Muss sagen habe schon lange keine Quitten gegessen, meine Großeltern hatten einen Baum, die hatten so einiges.

Hi, ich mach das für mich , ich wusste ja nicht , daß ich soviele Quitten bekomme! Schön zum verschenken u auch mal zum Selbstkostenpreis an ne Freundin. Ich hab Gläser in der Metro gekauft u Etiketten gedruckt - fand das lustig , es prof aussehen zu lassen!!
Sieht auf jedenfall echt so aus als würdest das auch z.b. aufm Woxhenmarkt verkaufen.
Mekne Eltern machen auch viel Selbst, viel Marmelade.
Mir tat die Hand schon beim lesen weh... ;)
