There's a specific Western food stall I always visit whenever I'm craving some delicious Western-style cuisine: Western 88! They have a stall at the Golden Mile Food Centre, known as one of the go-to spots for tasty, affordable food. Conveniently located along Beach Road, it’s easily accessible and just a 5-minute walk from the Nicoll Highway MRT station.
I went there for a late dinner, and most of the stalls were already closed for the night. I should have gone earlier to have more options, but that’s okay since I had already decided to try this stall anyway.
I ordered the chicken chop rice set because it had been a while since I last had it, and I enjoy how they grill it on the flat top. The chef knows how to make the skin perfectly crispy while keeping the meat tender and juicy.
I really enjoy this meal—in fact, it’s the only dish where I actually eat coleslaw. I’ve never had coleslaw with any other type of cuisine. I think it pairs nicely with the grilled chicken, adding a touch of creaminess to the dish. Plus, it’s a good source of nutrition from the vegetables!
In addition to the dish, I also ordered an extra sausage. It was only $1.50, so I thought it would be a nice addition. I expected it to be larger, but it turned out to be a smaller version of what I saw on the menu. Then again, for $1.50, I probably shouldn’t have had high expectations. On second thought, I should have ordered another one because it was really good. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Western 88 never disappoints with its flavorful dishes and affordable prices, making it a reliable choice for satisfying Western-style cravings. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to try more of their menu and maybe grab an extra sausage or two!
