There’s a particular dish that gets me excited every time I have the chance to order it, Fried Rice!
It’s the type of fried rice that was cooked using a Wok that I think is the best version of this dish. It takes a skilled chef to make this dish. Anyone can make a fried rice using a regular pan but it will not be as good as the one that was done using a Wok.
Aside from the utensil, it’s the high intensity flames that gave this dish a distinct flavor and aroma. It was steaming when I received my order and I had to blow on it because I was worried that it will burn my tongue.
I noticed that in recent years, there are more hawker stalls that specializes with this kind of food. I learned that there is a particular stall in the Old Airport Road whereby the owner and chef used to work in Din Tai Fung (which is a very good restaurant that offers traditional Chinese cuisine). I tried their version of fried rice and I was impressed by the quality of the food and the affordability of it too.
This fried rice stall, the JIA LE JIA, offers a quality similar to that of Din Tai Fung as well. The price S$6.50 is fantastic considering the location is at Maxwell food center.
Here’s my last bite of this meal. I was satisfied by the quality of the fried rice and the pork toppings as well. The meat was tender even though it was thinly sliced. I would say that it was perfectly cooked to my preference.
I enjoyed this meal!
