Most people know what ramen is. It's Japanese noodle soup although it has some of its origins from China since the noodles were originally imported from the giant country. I think what sets ramen apart from other noodle soup dishes is its broth. The broth is packed with flavors as it is commonly meat-based and has tons of seasoning and spices. Most of the ramen I've eaten had slightly thick and heavy broth.

One of the more popular Japanese restaurants in Cebu is called Sachi. They serve different kinds of ramen and my favorite is Tantanmen. It's spicy, milky and nutty. I visited the restaurant recently and ordered it. Sadly, I found it to be somewhat watered down compared to the first time I've had it. Maybe due to cost cutting. The soup was not spicy at all and the toppings lacked flair but the dish still looked enticing and well-prepared.

I also ordered Okonomiyaki or Japanese savory pancakes. If you've had takoyaki before, imagine shaping the takoyaki into pancakes and adding meat before cooking. After taking a few bites, I understood why ramen and Okonomiyaki are a good pair. The rich soup is balanced by the soft and savory 'pancakes.'

How about you? Do you like ramen or Okonomiyaki? Are there Japanese restaurants in you place that serve good food?

That looks awesome! I would have eaten both dishes myself hahaha lol. I love Asian food, I think that is a treasure. Ramen and Okonomiyaki? yes, please! sad that is a little bit too expensive here in Latin America and for me to eat it frequently.
¡Regards!
