I always enjoy discovering new places and trying out different cuisines. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of buzz on social media about this particular dish called ”Buching’s Empanada De Ilocos” which apparently has amazing flavors. I was thrilled to learn that it's available at Ayala Mall Central Bloc, which is just a quick 5-minute walk from my office. I've been longing to taste this empanada for quite some time, but I had no idea where to find it. I'm planning to head there today to finally satisfy my craving. Would you like to join me on this adventure of finding the best empanada in town?
Before I will go to Ayala Mall Central Bloc, I will meet up with my Beau here at the terminal. While waiting for my beau who went somewhere in Mandaue to run some errands, I decided to wait for him here at the Cebu IT Park Terminal. It's been a while since I last visited and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there's now a terminal situated in the area. Way back 2017, as I worked in a bpo company across the terminal, this used to be a restaurant. But now, they transformed it into a terminal. As I waited, I ordered an Arroz Caldo from Lugaw in Bossing, one of the most famous porridge brands in the Philippines. I'm not sure when the terminal was established, but I do recall working in the area for one of the biggest business process outsourcing companies back in 2017. I noticed that a lot has changed since then, including the addition of the terminal which makes it more accessible and convenient for everyone.
I ordered arozcaldo porridge and it arrived hot, which was perfect since I love eating hot food. As I indulged in my meal, my boyfriend joined me but had to excuse himself to use the restroom. While he was in the comfort room, I took a stroll around the terminal to explore the area.
Many commuters were waiting for the jeepneys and local buses, as shown in the photos. A lot of them were heading to different destinations within Cebu City. It's very convenient that the terminal is located in the Cebu IT Park, as it saves employees from traveling far to find transportation. The area also has a public comfort room that's free to use. After my beau came out of the comfort room, we went to Ayala Central Mall to find the Empanada de Ilocos that I had been eyeing for for many days.
The security guards were able to direct us to Buching’s Empanada de Ilocos, which was located on the third floor near True Value. It was easy to find, located just beside the escalator. I am thrilled to have found it!
Upon my arrival, I noticed a long queue of people waiting, which didn't come as a surprise considering Buching’s Empanada De Ilocos’ popularity on social media. The lady at the front of the line informed me that the wait time would be approximately 20 minutes. Since I had already made the effort to come here, I had no choice but to wait. I eagerly anticipated trying the empanada that had attracted so many people to wait in line. Hopefully, the wait would be worth it and the empanada would live up to its hype.

I got the empanada special for 60 pesos, and it was definitely worth it. The empanada was huge, and the taste was absolutely amazing. I'm happy to show you what's inside, and trust me, it lived up to the hype. I'd give it a solid 10 out of 10 for taste. This was my first time trying it, and I'm already planning to come back for more.
Waiting for approximately 20 minutes was absolutely worth it because the empanada was definitely worth the hype. The vegetables and other ingredients were perfectly mixed with an egg inside, making it one-of-a-kind. I have always loved empanadas, but this one was exceptional. To complete my perfect afternoon snack, I paired it with my favorite strawberry shake.
It was indeed worth the hype and I would certainly come back for more soon. After my snack, I had to head to my work. Busy day ahead of me. Ciao!
