Occasionally, husband and I would make it a point to spend brief time together, knowing that life had become busier lately. That night, we decided to go out late dinner while the boys stayed at home to watch TV. This could not be possible when they were younger. Really thank God now we could go out for awhile, an hour or two, while the boys watched television. Let's!
Ai Authentic Dimsum
This shop had been here like forever as far as my memory can tell me.
Location: No.17, Jalan Bunga Kantan, Taman P Ramlee, 53000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur
It used to be managed by a couple, and now fully operated by their workers.
Ambience
It is just a simple shop, open-air concept and no air conditioner. It is located at the road side and so finding car park was a quite a hassle that night. We rounded few rounds, and finally someone wanted to come out, so we could take their place yay!
Our Spread of Dim Sum!
Look at our spread of dim sum. We were both dimsum lovers. The price had gone up a lot lately and so we tried to cut down eating dimsum to once to twice a year.
Fried Spicy Radish Cake
This delicious plate was made of radish cake. The radish and rice flour paste would be steamed, then cut into cubes. Then the radish cubes would be stirred fry in Chinese style using onions and garlic oil, soy sauce and oyster sauce and chillies , with ingredients such as eggs and beansprouts and spring onions added. Super duper delicious!
Stuffed Eggplant
I don't usually go for eggplant but the one served here was very nice until I also loved it. The egg plant was fried and so it wasn't mushy and soft. And it was stuffed with delicious fish paste. Super yum!
Bacon Roll
This was something special that not all dimsum shop would serve. It was fish paste wrapped with enoki mushrooms and then the outer layer was bacon roll. So flavourful for every bite.
Siew Mai
This one must be ordered whenever we go for dimsum. Most loved by everyone. Their siew mai was delicious too. The meat was fresh and well-seasoned. It had salted egg on top too. Yay!
Fish Mai
This is one of my favourite too. Fish mai basically was fish paste rolled into bigger size and steamed, like fishball's older bother, bigger in size. Their fish mai is special because there were some peas and diced carrots in there. Other shop's fish mai usually is only fish paste. Delicious! Fresh and boingy! Bouncy!!!
Preserved egg mai
We were wondering what was this in the menu because no photo of it, so we wanted to try. Turned out it was half hard-boiled egg stuffed with minced pork, topped with century egg and a lettuce wrapped. So so special! And very yummy!
Prawn rice roll
Lastly, we must eat some rice roll before we could not (cutting down carb entirely soon). The rice roll was not as good as other dimsum shop but it was okay. Passed! Not many prawns in there but the chilli sambal paste was definitely top notch.
Sweet sauce and chilli sauce
Eating dimsum would not be complete without these two. A must at every dimsum shop, a sweet brown sauce and chilli sauce.
We had a great time at the shop, because it was so peaceful and quiet, only three tables occupied that night. There were times we were both tired we just enjoyed each other's company without talking much. Lol... But we had great time eating together as well as a cup of milk tea to share. Later on, we had some chit chat, finished our own individual work on the phone, then headed back to home, feeling sleepy and satisfied.
