This time I would like to share how to make "Perkedel" or Potato Fritters.
Perkedel is one of the popular food in Indonesia, Indonesian people have been consuming it for a long time. Perkedel actually comes from the Dutch language which is "Frikadel" they brought to Indonesia during colonial period. A kind of ground beef that is compacted and fried, and meat is the main ingredient.
It seemed that beef or pork were very expensive ingredients at that time, so the Indonesians modified the Frikadel by adding mashed potatoes.
At that time, an easy-to-find and inexpensive produce was potatoes, so that the potato becomes the dominant ingredient.
Interesting story isn't?
Alright let's get start it.
Ingredients:
1/2kg Pottatos
3 shallot cloves (cut potatoes into slices and Fried)
3 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp paper ground pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
1/2 cup finely chopped celery
2 eggs
Cooking Steps:
Peel and cut potatoes into slices, wash all the potatoes
Fry potatoes until golden brown, and then place it in the bowl.
Mix well all the ingredients into the bowl of mashed potato.
Then mashed them until there is no lumps.
Next shape according to your taste.
Then fry again until brown. Don't flip it often, wait until one side firm enough. When it's both side are turning golden brown, means perkedel are cooked.
