Make "Kue Talam Abon" a savory and gluten-free cake

Hi friends, today I am making a traditional cake called "talam cake". This cake has various types or flavors ranging from sweet to savory to salty. Apart from that, this cake is also a traditional snack in Indonesia.

This traditional culinary delight is rarely found, but we can still find some at food festivals, weddings, thanksgivings or certain events. I made a savory salty version, namely "kue talam abon" I used beef shredded topping. Apart from using shredded meat, you can also create it with sweet ingredients such as jackfruit, sweet potatoes and cassava. Later next time I will share the recipe with you.

Immediately what we need is :

150 grams of rice flour
50 grams of tapioca flour
1 tbsp granulated sugar Pinch of salt
600 grams of coconut milk
2 tablespoons cooking oil for greasing the mold

Tip: it's better to use fresh coconut milk because the savory taste of coconut makes this cake even tastier. If you use instant coconut milk, you can use 150 ml of instant coconut milk plus up to 600ml of water

How to make :


• Cook the coconut milk until it boils then set the coconut milk aside until it is lukewarm.

• After the coconut milk is warm, we will prepare the cake mold. Grease the cake mold with cooking oil then heat the mold in a steamer pan.

• prepare the ingredients by mixing rice flour, tapioca flour, granulated sugar, salt then add the warm coconut milk and stir until there are no lumps in the mixture.

• Strain the mixture before use so that the cake texture is smooth. And pour into a steamed mold for 7 minutes or until cooked.

• Once cooked, let it cool before removing it from the mold.


Serving suggestions:


• Prepare 150 grams of beef floss, 1 red chili, sliced ​​obliquely and 2 stalks of celery, just take the leaves for garnish.

• Take the cake dough then add shredded topping and add chilies and celery leaves for garnish to make the cake more beautiful and attractive.

• Talam Floss cake is ready to be served.

This talam cake tastes savory and sweet from shredded meat. If you don't like beef floss, you can replace it with chicken floss. The way to make it is also very easy, the ingredients used are also gluten-free so it is suitable for friends who are allergic to gluten. This cake could be an option for you to enjoy.
