Every country has its specific food for different seasons and meal times. And in the Philippines, we have these different varieties of food that are called "merienda". Merienda is derived from the Spanish word " Merendar" which means "to eat a snack". It is a light meal that mostly we Filipinos enjoys a lot. We simply adopted it from the Spanish as they colonised the Philippines for hundreds of years.
And today's blog. Let me share with you my merienda experience with my friends. My Zumba mates before usually visited this place as we have our monthly hang out aside from meeting up on the dance floor.
So, we decided to visit it again since we heard they're open for business.
Kabilin in heritage lounge is located at Golden Prince Hotel and Suites.
There's still some Covid protocol to be followed around. We got lucky since we were the only customer at that time. Did you see that photo below? πππ
The merienda buffet is only 350 PHP per person. The buffet starts around 2 pm up to 5:30 pm. We are not so lucky this time because we thought we were able to have blood pudding and other stuff. They have changed their menus every day.
The ambience looks amazing and they have the signage in Spanish words too. Cool. Isn't?!
We started to look around and choose what to have then. We are so thrilled about this merienda buffet since we have talked about it in the girl's group chat almost every week.
I couldn't translate all these food below to English as I only knew them by their Filipino names.
They have some BINANGKAL π ( Deep fry flour balls with some sesame seeds all over it. One of my favourite coz you can save it for days.)
SAGING PINAYPAY π ( Saging is banana in the Philippines. And it's also deep fry bananas with some flour and some white sugar)
CAMOTE Cue π. ( Camote is sweet potatoes. Fry with some melted brown sugar with it. You can also make a saving (banana cue) and it's the same process)
HOPIA π ( I think this is not just here in the Philippines as it's very Asian. )
EMPANADAS π ( I think this is what Spaniards left behind after the colonisation. The empanadas )
PANCIT BIHON π ( It made regular with some regular yellow noodles and rice noodles together and mixed with some veggies)
PURPLE BENIGNIT π ( One of my favourite. It has some sticky rice on it blended with some fresh coconut and some other stuff like sweet potatoes, bananas and more. It feels like porridge dessert πΈ)
They also have a very traditional Filipino pancit palabok π
They have some garnish sauces to mix with the Palabok. And I think palabok is kinda had shrimp with it. I'm not that sure since I don't eat it. But, it looks tasty by the way.
And last but not least is the Puto Maya π(sticky rice covered with some banana leaves which is a good tandem with some real cacao chocolate )
It was a great day. Reunited with good friends even if we almost hang out and see each other once or twice a week. πΈπΉ
Good food with good friends is always been the best. Especially when shared it with these amazing souls!π
Until our next food adventure π

Grabe! Of all the foods na meron dyan Palabok for sure ang babalik-balikan ko if ever na nasa buffet ako. Lahat sila mabibigat sa tyan lalo na yung benignit. Dito sa lugar namin ang tawag naman sa kaniya ay Ginataan ( depende na sa lahok kung anong dagdag na name nya.)
