It is one of the Filipino dish signatures when it comes to celebrations. “Lechon” or roasted pig brings an unprecedented festive and gay aura to every Filipino people and is always the center of food attraction every birthdays, reunions, fiestas, and many more. Lechon completes the happiness of every Filipino get-together.
My April has been a lechon-packed one! Seemed that every week, lechon has not been absent in my meal. 😀 I am grateful and worried at the same time. Grateful to have had able to enjoy the tender juicy lechon but the calories that come from eating it is undeniable. Hahah So eat moderately!
Now, if you ask me which part of lechon I am always craving? I will definitely say that its skin and ribs! Haha When thinking of its very cripy skin and flavorful ribs, I cannot help but to forget my diet and the number of rice scoops I have already eaten. Hahaha
Now let me tell you about my April Lechon Journey.
April 08
This is my cousin’s 28th birthday. His name is John Steve, a seafarer. He got his generosity from his mother (my father’s younger sister) and his high hairline, well ...you can tell from the picture 😃 Kidding aside, he just got home from a couple of months on board so he decided to celebrate his birthday with the finest lechon.
As the único-hijo in their family, cousin John is a loving son to his parents as well as to his cousins. He deserved that gathering to celebrate his beautiful existence.
A simple yet perfect get-together with the whole family was celebrated.
A week after,
April 17..
A very fine-blessed Sunday. A wonderful day to celebrate Amara Kyle’s 1st post-birthday party. Her birthday was actually on the 13th but her parents chose to celebrate it on Sunday so all their relatives could come which made us attend to her celebration also. That means, another lechon! Haha
Along with the yummy lechon is the sweet and sour fish “escabeche”, stewed pork belly “pork adobo”, caldereta, pork menudo, and paklay. A lot, right? Calories waving 😅
Well, to balance it, a buffet of sweets was displayed. And for a chocolate lover, I grabbed a lot of brownies! ‘Twas very yummy and mouthwatering.
Amara is the reflection of the happiness that her parents have together. She absolutely gave more joy to her family.

April 19
Yes, just two days after another lechon 🤣
My aunt’s farewell “despedida” gathering for her parents who went back to Australia. As part of the celebration, lechon was prepared!
We were informed by our aunt Catherine from our family’s group chat to celebrate dinner with them at their house. So right after I went out of work and came home, I was automatically offered a plate and grabbed some food. Unfortunately, because I came home that day around 6 pm already, lechon’s skin and ribs were not available already. But that’s alright! This time I enjoyed its meat. I was not able to picture myself because I was already hungry and ate to my satisfaction right away. 😅
Finally,
April 22
Three days after the despedida, was miss Jennifer's birthday. Another,it is! 😅 This time, I wasn't able to take pictures because we were busy singing videoke while waiting for the rice. hahaha
It was just a simple birthday for miss Jennifer and I had so much fun and I was full!
See? Though I have gained much calories from the last month, the memories of happiness and contentment with the families and friends from those gatherings were essential to me. It is the bond that we make together with the food we eat, right?
