A Sweet Treat sa Tag-init
Tag-init is the Filipino word for Summer.
We had the kids over the weekend. They are my sister-in-laws kids. They usually come over to play with our son.
Of course, when kids come over, I usually look for something I can prepare or serve for merienda.
This Sunday, I decided to make a simple treat for them: a knickerbocker inspired dessert.
What is a knickerbocker?

A knickerbocker is an ice cream dessert made famous in Zamboanga. It is a combination of fresh in-season fruits, layered in a tall glass and topped with strawberry ice cream. In local term, it is a halo-halo of fruits. Some add nuts or crispies to it.
Fruits commonly added to it are mangoes, strawberries, watermelon, banans and apples.
But you can add more or subtract less from the given ingredients.
For this version, I only added strawberries and bananas since these are the fruits we have at home.
I got free strawberries from our neighbor.
They plant strawberries and they gave us the small ones. Since we cannot eat all of it at once, I washed them and froze them for future use.
Now, I can put it to use.
First, I put three spoonfuls of strawberries in a plate.
Then, I added some sliced bananas in each plate.
Next, I drizzled condensed milk on the fruits.
Lastly, I added three scoops of ice cream on each plate.
Tada!!!
This is our knickerbocker!
We're lacking on fruits but I'm glad the kids enjoyed it.
