Happy fall everyone!
Did you know that peanuts are not really nuts?
They actually grow in soil!
We have lots of veggies in our garden and this year we planted peanuts for the first time!
It was amazing to see how they grow!
When they started having flowers and flower touch the ground, they will root from there and started having peanuts. I did not know all that before I plant them this year.
It is very educational to grow own veggies and lear how they are made.
Also you can appreciate them more because it takes long time to grow to harvest them.
Today I will show you how to cook fresh peanuts!
Step 1 : cut off the peanuts from stems
Step2 : wash off all the dirt
Step 3 : boil
Put peanuts, water and 2% of salt in a pot before you turn on the heat.
When it started bubbling up, turn it down to low heat and boil them for 30min.
Step 4 : let it sit for 10min
After 30min, turn off the heat and let it sit for 10min.
then drain water.
**Step 5 : Time to EAT!
They are completely different from peanuts you get from stores.
They are sweeter and soft and still has the nutty flavor.
Since it is warm and soft, they are little bit close to beans but has more sweet nutty flavor with more texture! It is very hard to stop eating!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You can let them dry for a bit and freeze it to keep them longer!
