Happy Saturday Hivers!
Last Saturday, my niece and I visited her maternal grandmother whom I hadn't seen in a year. The travel time was supposed to be around one hour, but due to heavy traffic, it took more than three hours. This is one of the reasons why I moved to Dumaguete City, as I could no longer bear the heavy traffic.
I treated her grandmother like my own mother because she always showed me kindness. It was painful to see her when we visited, as she had completely lost her sight at 81 years old.
After visiting her, we travelled back home and had to endure again the unbearable traffic and scorching hot weather in the city. It was so hot that you could still sweat even inside an air-conditioned bus. Despite you keep drinking water to avoid dehydration, it may not be enough to quench your thirst. You may need to look for some cold refreshments. And that's why we unexpectedly ended up having a halo-halo date at an old, well-known halo-halo store in town.
Victoria's halo-halo is one of the oldest stores in town. They sell halo-halo and other snacks, but their best-selling product is halo-halo. My niece has a vivid memory of this place, as she was around five years old when she and her family ate halo-halo at this store. It's remarkable to think that they have been in operation for so long, as my niece is turning 24 this year.
We were the first customers that time. They opened at 4pm, and it was perfect that we arrived at the store exactly at 4pm. What really surprised me was that the store had expanded. It was only small back then, but they already had many customers. I used to pass by this store when I was still in college, but believe me, I had never dined here until last Saturday.
Of course, we ordered their best-selling product, halo-halo, to quench our thirst. We also had 2 glasses of mango shake, as well as slices of pizza and a burger.
Since we could no longer contain our thirst on that Saturday afternoon, we immediately consumed it after the waitress laid it on our table. And you know what? I really understood why they always have many customers after I had my first few spoonfuls of halo-halo.
The taste of the halo-halo was perfect - not too sweet and not loaded with too much sugar. They have a lot of ingredients mixed, unlike the other halo-halo stores. The supreme size was loaded with corn, corn flakes, beans, jackfruit, leche flan, ice cream, jelly, mango, crushed ice, and milk. It costs Php80.00, and it's worth it. Since we also ordered a glass of mango shake each, we decided to share the glass of halo-halo between us because we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to finish it if we both ordered a glass of halo-halo.
Now I know why this store has earned high customer retention because of the quality of halo-halo they offer to their customers. Despite the pandemic hitting across the globe, the store was still able to survive, unlike the other stores in town. They have already operated for almost 20 years. It is truly remarkable, isn't it?
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
Halo halo look super perfect for the summer and big! The mango shakes looks good too especially I love mango, by the way sorry to hear your bad experience in the traffic 🥲
It is indeed perfect for the hot weather. Yeah the shake was yummy. Oh, we have lots of sweet mangoes here in the Philippines. Thanks @noemilunastorta for dropping by.
