🖤Ingredients:
For the dough:
- about a kilogram of flour
- 500 ml of water
- 1 spoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- a block of fresh yeast (40g)
- 100 ml of oil
For the cheese spread:
- 250 g of cottage cheese
- 250 g of feta cheese
- 100 g of butter
Topping:
- sesame seeds and egg yolks
🖤How to make
Put the yeast in lukewarm water, add sugar and mix. Wait a few minutes. After that, gradually add half of the flour and mix gently. When you have added half of the flour, add all the oil and a teaspoon of salt and mix everything well. Then add the remaining flour and knead a dough that does not stick to your hands.
Put the dough in a bowl, coat it with oil, cover it with a cloth and leave it to rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
While the dough is rising, prepare the cheese spread. Combine cottage cheese, feta cheese and butter that was previously at room temperature.
The dough rose fantastically.
Knead it again and roll it into a rectangle with a rolling pin.
Spread a thin layer of the combination of cheese and butter that you made earlier over the stretched dough.
After that, cut the dough into strips. I divided my dough into 15 strips. Then just simply roll them into "snails".
Grease a baking tray with butter or place the rolls on parchment paper.
Coat the rolls with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake them for about half an hour at about 200 degrees in a preheated oven.
When the rolls are baked, take it out of the oven and cover them with a cotton cloth to rest. After that, these wonderful, soft, fragrant rolls are ready for you to enjoy their taste :)
Thanks to my dear children who helped me to photograph the process. I was in a hurry to prepare this wonderful "snail cheese" as soon as possible, and taking photos only increased my preparation time. It is also very difficult to photograph the finished rolls because everyone can't wait to eat them, and their smell only deepens the hunger. And of course, when my children are around me, every food preparation becomes an interesting game.
Bon appetit!
With love,
Snezana
