Shawarma is a delicious snack/food made with vegetables, meat or any type of protein of choice (though beef or chicken is mostly used).
Shawarma is very popular in Nigeria though it was imported by the Lebanese. I could remember a time when if you were going out on a date with a lady and you wanted to impress her then shawarma was your go to food because ladies loved it so much (guys did too but we're too proud to say it🤭🤭) but now both males and females admit to loving shawarma and shawarma is one very profitable business in Nigeria.

INGREDIENTS
For making very tasty shawarma you need the following;
Shawarma bread you could also use tortilla bread.
Beef (you could use a mixture of chicken and beef or seafood)
Cabbage
Carrots
Mayonnaise
Tomato ketchup
Barbeque sauce (optional)
Seasoning for your beef( salt, seasoning cubes, pepper, curry, thyme, garlic powder)
Onion for the beef
Sausage (optional)
Some people use tomato and cucumber but I don't cos I don't like the taste.

PREPARATION
- wash and slice the vegetables how you would normally slice to make salads and set aside.
- Mince your beef or chicken into small cubes or stripes, wash it and add your seasoning. I recommend adding garlic powder because it gives a really lovely aroma and taste. You can leave the seasoned beef for a while to marinate then give it a boil to soften it but don't add too much water.
-In a pan add two tablespoons of vegetable oil and saute your sausage then set aside. Put your beef into the pan and saute it as well so it brings out a nice flavor then set aside. - Mix some mayonnaise and ketchup with your barbeque sauce (optional)
You could decide to spread this on your shawarma bread before adding the beef and sausages but I prefer to mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, barbeque sauce, vegetables, and beef together. It mixes very well this way and the taste combines perfectly. If you are using the large sized shawarma bread divide it into two before adding the mix if not just fill the bread with the mix, place your sausage by the side and wrap together then tuck in the edges. - Place the shawarma wrap in a grill to warm it up or place in a heated pan for about 2 minutes and your delicious shawarma is ready.
- Get a seat, spread your legs and enjoy with a chilled glass cup of soft drink.
