Hello my loving Hivers,

How are you guys? I think health will be safe at home during this quarantine season. I urge even working people to follow their health care policies to protect themselves from the plague. At a time when the corona epidemic is spreading rapidly, the travel restrictions in our country have been tightened. So we have to leave for our jobs every other day. Many people are not so keen on these travel restrictions because they have to stay home. Staying out of the house for about six days makes it difficult for them to stay at home continuously, due to the monotony that exists there. But I am accustomed to looking at the positive side behind every negative phenomenon.

I have not been interested in cooking since I was a child. But with the restrictions on travel, I had more leisure time at home, so I had the opportunity to get involved in cooking. I also had the opportunity to prepare a variety of dishes from the kitchen, especially with the help of my wife. Accordingly, last night we decided to prepare a traditional Sri Lankan dessert in our spare time. Accordingly, we hope to present through today's content how we prepared Munkavum.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of fried green gram flour

  • Coconut oil (enough for frying)

Preparing Method

  • Wash and grind the green beans well. Then fry in a well-ventilated pan until golden brown. Then simmer until the heat subsides. Grind slightly so that there are small pieces.

  • Then take a saucepan, add sugar and enough water and place on the stove.

  • Stir until the sugar turns into honey and melts well.

  • Now put the flour in a saucepan, add salt, put on the stove and mix well. Make this mixture to a non-sticky size by hand.

  • Put a little coconut oil in a flat dish. Then thin the mixture.

  • Then cut into the desired shape of the above type. This is the kind of shape we Sri Lankans often cut.

  • Then take another bowl of water and add wheat flour and yolks and mix well. Make this slightly liquid.

Heat a pan, add as much coconut oil as needed and let it heat up. Then cut them into chunks and place in a pan. Then already cut pieces, put in the turmeric mixture. Then put in a pan with melted oil.

  • Once the pieces are golden brown, take them out of the pan.

This way we were able to easily prepare the munkavum from home. It is a matter of pleasure that this type of confectionery traditionally prepared for the Sri Lankan New Year table has spread to the present generation. It is our responsibility to pass this on to future generations. If you also need to make mung bean, you can easily prepare it from home. Thank you all for reading the content. Have a wonderful day.
