I got an opportunity to celebrate my mother's 75th birthday last Friday. My family gathered at the restaurant in Roermond.
"Heere aan de Maas" is the restaurant name I want to tell you all about.
But this restaurant needs some explanation. Simply showing you the dishes doesn't cut it.
Its concept is quite different
At first, we needed to scan the QR code next to our table number.
Then, a website popped up on your telephone screen.
And the rest showed itself.
Several categories were on your screen, making selecting your desired dish easier.
It's ideal because I usually can't choose when everything looks so delicious.
Above, you can see an example of the soups and meat dishes.
But I will no longer bore you with these dull images. Let's get to the yummy part of the evening. And show you what I all had for dinner. I warn you, it's a lot, but luckily, all tiny portions.
To begin with, I had some starters.
After two meat starters, I ordered two fish starters.
But dinner was starting, and there were many more excellent dishes.
Well, that was a dish I could eat over and over. I could taste that the squid rings were fresh. Otherwise, the texture would have been very rubbery.
(In the back are some side dishes. Fries and salad)
After four starters, it was time for some main courses.
There were so many choices to pick from, but I decided to start again with two meat dishes.
First the spare ribs in soy sauce.
And you know it’s properly cooked when the meat comes away from the bone with a slight tug.
Also the texture was like a good prepared steak, heavenly.
You must be stuffed, right? Well no. All the dishes have the perfect small size to order a couple more main courses.
Again, I chose two fish dishes. To keep it varied but mainly because I like fish and meat.
The photo says it all. Delicious dish.
Prawn tartare with ras el hanout, puffed garlic mayonnaise, and fennel. An explosion of all kinds of tastes, wow!
The sweet tooth in me jumped in the air of joy because we finally had arrived at the end course, desserts.
In the front: Profiterole, dipped in white chocolate with cassis mousse
Rear left: Chocolate mousse
Rear right: A brownie with mocha cream
The only one that could have been more disappointing was the chocolate mousse.
I like it firm and a little sticky. But this one was more of a pudding.
It was a tie between the classic brownie with a tasteful twist on top. And the Profiterole.
It would be my mother's if I had to pick a dessert as a winner.
Do I recommend going to "Heere aan de Maas"?
Yes, I do.
I like their innovative idea of ordering small dishes through a QR code.
You can try so many different kinds of cuisine.
I love the food; it is also delicious & the staff is so friendly and skilled.
I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special occasion meal.
