My "breakfast journal" during the quarantine

in Foodies Bee Hive3 years ago (edited)

Have you ever considered eating nothing but noodles and bread for a week or more? That doesn't seem like a good concept to most of you, does it?

Last year's quarantines during Covid-19 tested my culinary ingenuity because food sources were few and traveling to the supermarket was discouraged. So, with only Vietnamese noodles and pasta in the cupboard, I meticulously planned to surprise my husband and 2-year-old son with new meals every morning so that they wouldn't get tired of eating the same thing every day.
My "breakfast journal" is about to begin.

Day 1
When ingredients were still abundant, we had rice noodle soup (hu tiu) with squid, ground shrimp, and vegetables. The bowl was topped with fried garlic and onion

Day 2
Dry instant noodles with dumplings and fried pork bologna (cha chien)

Day 3

Day 7

Day 8
Dry instant noodles with beef meatballs, boiled eggs, and home-grown bean sprouts

Day 9
Yes, there was nothing left but instant noodles, but thank God, we still had eggs, ham, bean sprouts and mustard greens:)))

Day 10
Do you see any difference between this meal compared to Day 4' s breakfast? :)))

Day 11
When there was no noodle left, I had porridge

Every morning during that time, we would gather on the balcony, enjoying these dishes while watching birds dance on the power grids. After a full stomach, my husband always asked me the same question, " What do you have for me and our son tomorrow?". Having a mysterious smile on my face, I'd say " Wait and see".

Thanks for reading my blog. I hope that my sharing can give you some ideas for your daily meals and kindle your interest in cooking.

Noodles and bread is a no-no for me, the last time I tried it, I vomited.

Noodle and meatballs are nice,

The noodle soup with fried egg and shrimp looks nice too.

Thank you for sharing, @jessicaossom :))
