I always enjoy the time I am in the kitchen. I have made hundreds of dishes without problems. The thing is, when it comes to pastries, things have never lived up to my expectation. I wonder whether I should blame it for the oven that, for many times, has driven me crazy with tons of cupcakes thrown into the bin helplessly or for my lack of skill despite the effort. But, at the end of the day, after much trial and error, it is still my passion to have fun with flour, sugar, milk, and eggs 😊)))

It was a special morning. While everyone was packing and ready to head back to their hometown for a family reunion on the occasion of a national holiday, I standing beside a table with a lot of ingredient items on it, being overwhelmed with my plan. I also had to go back to my mother’s home located in a suburban area, but I was really desperate to make something for the kids a gift. Within only 2 hours and a half, I managed to try out three recipes for nougat, coconut, and almond cookies.
Nougat candies were rather simple to make, so it didn’t take me too long, except for the cutting stage where my hands were just too tired to keep the knife steady.
Coconut and almond cookies were burnt a bit. Please trust me, it was all down to my oven which I had no idea how to please. lol
I left my house with everything done, feeling a bit worried because what I had prepared was not perfect ( the nougat looked so funny). I closely observed the facial expressions of my nieces and nephews upon their first bite, getting really nervous. To my surprise, they jumped in excitement and came running to give me a big hug as a thank you. I just felt like I was given a present too, my time and effort had been well deserved.
