Hallo everyone on hive. How was your week? What's news on your end? As i said before I'm staying in a small town and not much is happening here. We keep ourselves busy with everyday things and hobbies but mostly baking. Baking set my mind at ease. In this post im going to show you how i made homemade jello rolls and cake. But let's start of with my cake. is a two layer cake baked in twenty cm pans. I lightly butter the pans and put in some wax paper it's just easier for me to get the cakes out of the pan.
I divided the dough and put some cocoa powder in one half the other half is vanilla flavor.
and i could not find my little plastic device that i always use with this cake. This time i use a hard peace of cardboard to put in the middle of the pan then i put chocolate dough on one side and vanilla on the other side and remove the peace of cardboard slowly. and then i used a butter knife to marble the dough as you will see it's a beautiful picture.
Then its time to bake. it takes only thirty minutes to bake.
When i took them out of the oven i let them cool for a few minutes then it's time to but in some jam in the middle of the two beauty's so that they can stick together.
I wanted to leave them just like that but the kids wanted icing so i wasn't sure what to do but they said i must try to make a bee on the cake because the cake was for foodies bee hive so i tried.
its short of an bee ๐ but I'll leave the drawing on cakes for the people how know what they are doing. drawing is not for me.๐
Now at long last it's time for the
Jello roll-ups.
Such a fun and easy recipe

โบ๏ธ๏ธ1 package of jello
โบ๏ธ๏ธ1/2 cup of boiling water
โบ๏ธ๏ธ1 cup of small marshmallows
๐๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐.
- In a microwave safe bowl, mix together the jello mix and the hot water.
Stir until dissolved. if its not dissolving ,microwave the mixture for 30 seconds and keep stirring. Repeat until you get it all dissolved.
Add the marshmallows and microwave for another 30 seconds.
Mix together until the marshmallows are completely melted.
Pour mixture into a greased 8ร8 pan and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Use a knife to cut around the edges of the pan to release the jello.
roll the jello as tightly as you can.
Cut into 1cm wide pieces using a sharp, thin knife

The marshmallows will rise to the top of the jello mixture as it sets, so there's no need to make two different mixtures
the jello rolls is a nice snack and it's not to sweet especially if you have little ones in your home how is always hungry and on the lookout for something to eat. It's a fast and easy recipe. i will post some photos and the recipe here for you i hope you will try it i don't think you will be disappointed. And i know its not the healthy choice but its the delicious one.
We have loadshedding sometimes more than ten hours without electricity in a day. But i still try to make and bake stuff to stay active on hive. If there's no electricity there's no water and no network coverage hehe that's south africa for you but i would not leave this place. I think baking is therapeutic and when ever the stress hits me and life is giving me lemons ill try to bake and create something for my family so that I can see the appreciation on their faces then it makes me feel better as well. The jello rolls looks deli and I think it's a nice snack even without added sugar..more healthy even. And then the cake and the icing, you did a good job with the tutorial
