I LOVE FOODS! I haven’t hidden that fact. I’ve made posts as well as comments in that regard. I mean, who wouldn’t like food anyways. Foods are sweet, refreshing, uplifting, rejuvenating, nourishing to say the least.
My love for food started as long as I can remember and even before that, I guess…. Lol
My mum said when I was a baby, I didn’t disturb a lot. She said I never fell sick even for a day through out all the growth stages of a child. She said the only ‘problem’ however was that I loved food! When it isn’t available ill cry until the neighbors start asking what’s wrong and when it is available, I’m very peaceful. My mum realized that early enough and made sure food was always available so I was always happy.
My love for food continued till my teenage years. I remember, I would tell my siblings to remember to give me their food if they wouldn’t be able to finish it. i would say this and as I eat my own food I would be hoping and silently praying that my siblings don’t finish theirs so they can all give it to me.. lol
You can call me greedy if you like but the thing is, I was never filled up. I didn’t even understand that someone can get filled up and not want to eat anymore. As long as the food was available, I was ready to pounce on it.
The good part of growing up was that my mum owned about 2 to 3 farms. She was growing maize, yam, cocoyam, melon, cassava and quite a number of fruits.
We ate mostly native foods, fresh from the farm. Almost every meal was accompanied by one fruit or the other. Some times when the produce was more than we could eat, she would try to sell them in a nearby market. I grew up eating more of natural foods and little or no processed food.
My mum is late now and we don’t have the luxury of time to farm like we used to. I also don’t eat as much as I used to anymore. In fact, all my siblings eat wayyyyy more than me now.
Talking about Native or foreign foods, I’ve come to realize that I enjoy native foods more. Asides the fact that some of them bring back old memories, they seem to taste better and are more satisfying than foreign or processed foods. Native foods are mostly medicinal and of course healthier as well. There are quite a number of native/natural foods I enjoy. They include bread fruit (Ukwa), African salad (abacha), three leaf yam (una), roasted unripe plantain and Ofada rice.
I have a number of English/ Foreign/ processed foods I enjoy too such as burgers, fried rice, pancakes and fries. However, I wouldn’t trade native foods for anything else. They are my favorites!
What about you?
Which do you enjoy the most?
Native or foreign/ processed foods?
Thanks for reading through as usual!
See you in the comment section!

Ukwa definitely one of my favorite native food as well.
The process in cooking it is my only problem 😩
But the finish product is bliss.
Let me not even start with that plate of Ofada 🤤
😂😂😂😂
Actually I cooked Ukwa yesterday.
The cooking doesn't take me much time because I include little baking soda.
Baking soda? Where have this strategy been all my life.. Wow
At what point in cooking do you add it b?
At the beginning... it makes it cook faster. Before you know it, it's already very soft
Gee thanks. Haha I'm grateful for Hive, I never would've known this.

As a bona-fide foodie that I am, I love both native and foreign foods honestly. I mean, how can I possibly choose? It's food we're talking about.
Meanwhile, that ofada looks yummy!
