It was exactly a week before my scheduled thyroidectomy that I gathered my closest friends for a much-needed catch-up dinner. Everyone had been busy with work and life in general so dinners like this had been difficult to organize lately. A friend who live offshore was in Cebu that weekend, I extended the invitation to each and I was glad most were free except two who had prior commitments.
The next question is where to dine? I have a few places in mind but I need to consider everyone's proximity to the restaurant's location. We ended up meeting in Sparrow Cafe Culture in IT Park, Cebu City. It's one of the newest restaurants in Cebu's tech hub. I've been seeing a few friends post their dining experience here. I thought that the place was perfect for friends who were meeting after a long time.
I advised my friends to be there earlier so we can reserve seats for all 9 of us. I tried reserving seats via call but the restaurant wouldn't reserve unless you are already in the area; you have to be physically there to have your reservation taken.
It took a while, say 30 minutes, before we finally got our seats. Since it was a Saturday, the place was jampacked with friends and family, who like us, wanted to catch up over great dinner, too. Good thing was some of our friends arrived late; waiting wasn't a big deal when you're with friends you haven't seen in a while. We were hugging and chatting even before we could enter the restaurant.
The long table that could accommodate all of us was finally freed up and the attendant invited us in. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, gladly, we weren't the only one making loud noise. Each of us pre-ordered our food of choice and upon seating, the food was served immediately. It's a technique we do most of the time to save ourselves from starving!
We got pasta, bruschettas, soy ginger salmon, salmon aburi bowl, gruyere baked chicken. The house was divided when it was time to rate their food; I personally love the salmon aburi bowl I got for myself but the others found their dishes so-so. Everything we got were physically apealing but not something they will keep coming back for, my friends made it very clear. We enjoyed the rest of the night indulging ourselves with creamy desserts that we still got from the same cafe.
