Sweet tooth for a night | Chai Wan, Cebu City

A few years back, milktea became trendy all over the Philippines. Friends and colleagues would drink milktea on a regular basis, as if it's water. Milktea shops and stalsl sprouted left and right to cater to the growing demand. Unlike most people I know, I was never fond of milktea. For one, I looked at it as another form of Coke that just mostly sugar, no health benefits whatsoever. I thank God I was never drawn to this fad and saved bucks and my kidney! 😂

But of course, there are always exemptions. One night as I was walking home, I passed by this coffee shop selling milktea and other sweet flavored drinks. The coffee shop's name, Chai Wan suggested that their core products are mostly milktea in all the flavors you could think of.

I was curious so I decided to grab a drink. I walked into an empty coffee shop. It's opening is
very narrow so at first, I thought it's a very small shop. The opposite was true; the shop's rectangular shape make the inside bigger than it looks from outside. Although it is still small relative to other coffee shops in the city, it can successfully hosts 20 pax at the same time. And I think that's a decent enough space to attract students would want to study or meet with friends.

There's nothing too fancy about its interior. It's clean, organized, simple and functional.

It was ordering time and I was dumbfounded by how wide their drink selection was. But as a decisive person, I knew right away I was getting a drink with chocolate. And I did just that. For those who can be indecisive sometimes, you can always ask from the cashier what their bestselling drinks are. Aside from miktea, coffee and frappe, they have a few bread and pastries to choose from.

I ended up buying the drink and drinking it on my way home as it was a bit late already. The verdict for the drink? Hmmm, I find my chocolate milk tea a bit too sweet. Didn't go back to this shop despite its proximity to our office.
