If you can recall, last Lent I committed to an all-out non-pork diet as my way of sacrificing. They say you sacrifice something you thought you couldn't live without, something that when taken away from you will be burdensome. So there, pork it was. I've tried sacrificing travel before. I've posted a few contents about what I ate during this 40-day no-pork window. You can check my previous posts here: vegan lunch and salad bowls.
Before Holy Week, I kept telling my boyfriend that we should eat unlimited Korean pork and beef BBQ right after Easter Sunday. The Monday following Easter, my boyfriend accompanied me in one of the most famous national brands of Korean BBQ, Samgyupsalamat. They have branches all over the Philippines. The first Cebu branch has been around for a while now but never got the opportunity to eat there. One time a few years back, I missed a supposedly quick gathering with my college buddies which usually happens in restaurants or coffee shops. At that time, it was held in Samgyupsalamat; we just can't hide our love for eating. But yeah, sadly I missed it!
I've been to countless unlimited Korean BBQ places before but I've always wanted to try Samgyupsalamat. I was curious why they're priced 15%-20% higher than those I've tried before. This itch to try Samgyupsalamat was amplified when I had to give up pork for a while. So there, my boyfriend arrived first in the place around 6 in the afternoon. When he arrived, the place was already filled with people excited to try their food. He had to list our names which serves as a queue. It took a while before we got our assigned seats.
I was terribly hungry that day and my boyfriend undeniably loves eating too. Despite eating Korean BBQ two days before, his appetite was unsurprisingly intact. We tried almost all kinds of pork, chicken, and beef offered on their menu as well as all available side dishes such as kimchi, onion, radish, marble potatoes, and lettuce. We grilled to our hearts' content that even if we weren't the last people to come in, we almost finished after everyone did! Haha! We paid Php 549.00 or a little over $10 which includes unlimited pork and beef each comes in 5 different cuts/types, while there are only 2 types of chicken to choose from. Unlimited side dishes, bottomless iced tea, cheese and gravy are also part of the price we paid.
The food was superb except for one thing, service. The waiting time for ordering additional side dishes or meat took some time as they were obviously undermanned. If they could only improved on that aspect, it would've been perfect!

Wow, look at the BBQ, this is such a yummy and flavorful when we enjoy the meat with Salad also the sauce looks delicious too.
It's was so good @mich.brmey. My favorite combination was stacking meat, melted cheese, kimchi and some other side dishes inside the lettuce, adding some korean sauce, wrapping everything neatly and eating everything in one bite! The flavors explode in the mouth! 😋
However you and BF enjoyed really delicious dishes since Samgyupsalamat in Philippines. I completely agree about the customer service as you mentioned finally. Without giving good service business can't be success without customer satisfaction. Maybe price can be high rates than other normal restaurants because many people came to high branded places.
This could be one reason @madushanka!
And yes, the service sucks. Unfortunately, there were moments we had to wait before they could give us what we ordered. 😞
i lovin pork
I love pork, too @thorsito. What pork dish/es is/are your favorite/s?
Well, my favorite thing about pork is the barbecue. The prey and the Iberian feather is very rich. In Spain we are lucky to have Iberian pork and we enjoy it very much.
