I had exams this weekend. My exams went well. Therefore, the weekend was a bit tiring for me.
I didn't want to prepare a meal for a long time because I was tired today. My wife offered to order food from outside, but I still wanted to prepare it myself.
If I'm tired then I thought let's make something between bread. I thought of a nice street flavor.
'Tantuni'
Tantuni is the famous street flavor of Mersin. I had the chance to eat in Mersin. Indeed, you should eat a meal where it is famous.
Tantuni can be made with chicken or beef steak, but I liked the one made with chicken more.
After a few tries, I started making my own at home.
I love to cook and eat. I really have a special interest in street delicacies.
From time to time, I will also give you recipes from street delicacies. I am sure you will like it too.
- Before I start explaining our recipe, I want to say this. The recipe that I will explain in this post may not be the exact tantuni recipe. This is a recipe I found after a few tries at home. I likened its taste to tantuni very much. Maybe that's the truth*
Now that you have made the necessary explanations, we can now share the recipe of our meal with you.
Tantuni Recipe
Necessary materials
- Chicken breast
- Black pepper, paprika, cumin, salt
- Liquid oil
- Lemon
- Onions and parsley
- Bread
(You can use any type of bread you want. But lavash bread will be the best. I used pita bread because I couldn't find lavash bread.)
First, I cut the chicken steak small. I chopped it as small as I could, but it was still a little big. I'll try to cut it smaller next time.
I put the chopped chicken pieces in a pot and cooked. During this time, I never used oil. I waited for the chicken to be cooked in its own juice first. Then I added some more water to it. I cooked it until the chicken had absorbed all the water.
After cooking the chickens, all we have to do is to bring them together with spices, accompanied by hot oil. I used a special pan (sheet pan) for this.
I put some oil in the pan and added the seasonings. As soon as the oil was hot, I added it to the hot oil of the chickens.
After adding the chicken to the pan, I quickly mixed it up. You have to be very fast here. Because this pan we use is quite thin.
After the chickens are completely covered with sauce, our chicken tantuun is ready.
I prepared onions and parsley next to the tantuni. Of course, a lemon.
Actually, I could add tomatoes, but I don't prefer to eat tomatoes. It's not as delicious as summer tomatoes.
