Today I am going share two recipes I like so much to try out with oats. Oats is very famous as a healthy food. Specially, when it comes to controlling calories. I wasn’t a fan of oats until I try these new methods. Normally we were used to cook oats with some milk and get it as an oats meal. Even if it is the easiest method we can make an oats meals, that’s not the best oats recipe you can find.
There are many recipes we can find. Recipes such as overnight oats recipes and smoothie recipes or oats cookies and so on. I didn’t want to try out overnight oats recipes because adding cream or full cream milk will make me gain more weight. When choosing and recipe we need to consider whether we need to gain the weight or whether we need to lose the weight. Other ingredients we add may act in those ways, so wee need to be careful of selecting a recipe as we want. If you don’t think about weight gain or lose, go with your favorite flavors.
The first method I like to try is, mixing oats with yogurt and some fruits and nuts. Then eat it! It is so simple and delicious. This is perfect when we have little time to prepare the breakfast.
But the one I liked a lot is the next one. Oats Smoothie!!!
Here is how I prepare it,
• 4tsp instant oats
• 1 plain yogurt(If you like get a flavored yogurt)
• 2tbsp cold water
• Fruits (Banana/Strawberry)
• 2tsp Honey
I am adding all the ingredients in a blender jar and mix it about a minute.
After that it is ready to serve. As fruits, I sometimes use a banana or sometimes use few strawberries. If I am using banana, I don’t add honey.
Because banana has its own natural sugar. It is more than enough to make the smoothie taste sweet. When I am using strawberries, I use about a tea spoon of honey to get the sweetness I want.
Using honey is healthier than using sugar. So, honey will be a good substitute if you want to control your weight. sometimes it is hard to find quality honey at the market. Anyway, here in our country, we can find it in "Ayuruveda " herbal shops.
I am adding some cold water, because I don’t like my smoothie to be too much thick. It is up to you to decide how thick you want it to be.
Special: Try this recipe with peanut butter instead of fruits If you are not allergy to peanuts. We should be considerate about what we are allergy when try out any recipe.
Sometimes I try it with some chopped almond nuts also. Different flavors are making this smoothie a great one for the breakfast.
