My family and I had our iftar at Alfatah Cafe in Bener Meriah District of Aceh Province. The cafe is located at Jalur Dua Street. This cafe is at Alfatah Hotel, and it’s open to public apart from serving the guests of hotel. A few days ago we visited the cafe for having our iftar together. It was heavy rain outside and there were no many guests who visited this place. So, I could take a seat where we liked and we didn’t need to reserve a table.
We ordered several menus including fish, chicken, soup, fried vegetable, rice, lumpia and some drinks. The fish based menus are fried nila fish or Nile talipia, and sweet-sour sauced nila fish. We also ordered kolak. Kolak is typical Indonesian dessert based on palm sugar and coconut milk, and the one we ordered was also added with ripe banana.
Beside my wife and kids, a nephew of mine was also coming with us to have our iftar. We were pretty excited to have it together. And Alfatah Cafe is a perfect place in our district. This picture shows that we were ready to enjoy our meal, but we still wait for the time of iftar.
My kids loved to eat fried chicken. The fried chicken is like KFC’s. We know that everyone tries to make the same fried chickens like Ketucky Fried Chicken. The chef of Alfatah tried his best to make this one. But he added some so spicy condiment, tomatoes and some fried tempeh.
And this menu is sweet-sour sauced nila fish. It looks spicy, but it’s not so. But it has dominant sweet and sour taste. The sweet taste may come from sugar and the sour taste is from pineapple. However, I was a bit surprised as an egg added to this menu. I often having sweet-sour fish, but it’s the first time I got an egg added to cook with the sauce.
The fried nila fish was my order. I would try this menu as it’s the first time I visited the cafe, I really want to taste it, how delicious it is. Some condiment was also prepared with the fried nila.
The Interior of Alfatah Cafe
Now let’s look the interior of Alfatah Cafe. I admit that the interior is pretty good, cozy with modern designs. Most parts of interior made of wood. I think wood materials is easy to find in Gayo Highlands. Is it the reason that the architect used wood as the base of his design?
The tables and chairs are totally made of wood. The ceiling is also made of wood. I think the wood material is a good touch of designer. He could manage the unspacious place to be a nice place to stay and enjoy our meal. We may look at the lighting. It’s simple, but it make the room more living.
Yeah, that’s true everyday is a good day. I like the quote written on a blackboard, placed just close to our table. The quote is “it’s a good day to have a good day”. As we really enjoyed our iftar, that was really our good day.
And this is an art from wood. The wood is painted and its form is like the horn of a deer. They place the wooden ornament close to front desk. This ornament is quite eye-catching upon entering the cafe.
This the exterior appearence of the cafe. The rain was just stopped, and we were heading for home. Our house is not so far from Alfatah Cafe.
Conclusion
I admit that Alfatah Cafe is one of the best restaurant in our district. I highly recommend this restaurant for having lunch or dinner. However, during Ramadhan Month, they only serve for iftar or dinner dishes.
