This is what a Traditional Bangladeshi Meal looks like.

Spicy, gravy, and deep-fried are the few words you would use to describe Bangladeshi food. We have a lot of similarities between Indian and Pakistani (well, we were one once, so...), and some South Asian foods as well. So you can call it a mixture of cuisine with many flavors and textures.

Over time we adopt something unique as our traditional meal and festive food. The way of cooking, the preparation, ingredients, and spices gained a little personal touch according to region as well.

Today, I'm going to share a very traditional Deshi meal that people usually serve when guests come over. Let's see.

My mom cooked this meal when we went over to her place. This is for my husband, to be honest. We have a tradition of welcoming the son-in-law with such meals.

There were beef, chicken, fish, eggplant, potato fries, liver curry, and whatnot.

This one is the liver curry, spicy but has a subtle sweet taste as well. I'm not sure if you have ever had it but it's one of my favorites.

The good old potato fries, we call it Alu Vaja. Without this, a meal is never complete.

Bangali means a lot of fish dishes. These small fish fries were so tasty. They were bony but I love the crunch.

This one is my mom's new invention. It's scrambled egg with coriander and other spices. It was also good.

This was for me especially. Mashed items go so well with rice. The left one is bean mash, the middle one is dried fish and the right one is peanut mash.

Finally, the Kabab. This is also one of my favorites.

Wait, the meal was not over. There were salad and cold drinks. And some local sweets and yogurt as well after the meal. You can call it a full-course Bangladeshi meal.

Some people also serve Duck curry, Mutton Korma, Roasted Chicken, etc with fragrant rice when they invite guests. Either way, these are heavy meals, and in-laws' houses love to host such events for their sons-in-law by tradition.

The photos may not look as appealing and aesthetic as I took them
candidly when I was eating. But the food was good. Mom's cooking is always best. I loved the warmth and homely taste of the food.

The kabab looks so tasty… to be honest, i’ve always had a feeling that the food from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal taste very similar. As i am not a native and never eaten them in their origin land, so maybe i cant taste the difference. Its all good and my favorite tho 🙏🏼
