Hi everyone, it is my pleasure to have you back on my blog. This time still about food and this time I want to review one of the famous Padang Satay in Indonesia.
There are many kinds of Padang satay, but at least there are three kinds of satay that more famous than the others. One of them is Dangung-Dangung satay, which comes from Dangung-Dangung region of West Sumatera exactly at Payakumbuh city.
On this Saturday night, I haven’t eaten anything since the morning so I decided to buy this satay. Just need about 5 minutes from my home, I found one of the satay stalls.
The satay stall is not big, it just a small stay because they just a small branch of Dangung-dangung satay at Pekanbaru. From the outside, you can look directly at the skewers. There are two types of meat, first is chicken meat and the second is cow meat.
But for Dangung-Dangung satay, people love using cow meat than chicken meat.
After you order the satay, the server will grill the skewer for a while to make the meat warm and good to eat. They still use the old grilling method that almost all the Padang satay sellers use. With the coconut shell charcoal with a medium size pan to keep the sauce. They tilt the pan a bit and make it touch the griller, the purpose they doing this is to maintain the sauce temperature, all the Padang satay best serve warm/hot, it less good if you ate it cold.
The stall also accepting customers who want to eat on the spot, but a maximum of 6-8 people because they just have 1 table and a few chairs. Or you can just take away the order and eat it at home.
If you want to take away the order, they will wrap the satay with oil paper with banana leaves.
Before you open the wrapper, use a plate or bowl so the sauce won’t scatter and dirty your table.
One portion of dangung-dangung satay contains 5 skewers of cow meal, one sliced ketupat, and some sauce. The sauce is a bit different from the other kind of Padang satay. Dangung-dangung satay uses yellow gravy instead of the red one. The sauce is not spicy and it’s good for you that don’t like spicy food.
Here’s the photo after I unwrap it, you can see the banana leaves. The banana leaves have a benefit for the food, it can give the food a good smell and keep the food temperature.
There is nothing left I can review about this food, so I will end the post here.
