Here in Thailand there is a problem with dairy products - the cottage cheese that I found did not match the taste that I was used to - in my homeland the cottage cheese is much tastier and more natural.

I'm convinced that's the case wherever you go in the world as cheese is made in a very different way. I know it's disappointing, but you can still use it in cakes as mixed with sugar and egg, maybe the difference in taste is not so obvious.
