On days when I have a morning appointment somewhere, I usually make a smoothie for breakfast so I can drink it in the car. Normally, I start with almond milk and protein powder, or else a packaged chocolate or vanilla protein drink. Then I add frozen berries, half a banana, a splash of expensive olive oil (it is supposed to help my cholesterol, and it seems to so do), a dollop of yogurt, and maybe a tablespoon or two of powdered peanut butter. I smash that all up with the blender, and drink it.
One day last week I remembered I had a blob of mashed avocado in the freezer, so decided to thaw it a bit in the microwave and add it into the smoothie. Wiping a small spill off the edge of the smoothie cup, I noticed it tasted a bit salty, but shrugged it off and added it to the concoction.
The first mouthful was quite the surprise, and not a pleasant one. It tasted so odd! Sort of spicy, I thought. And not in a good way. Upon further reflection, I had the dreadful realization that what I had saved in the freezer was actually homemade guacamole. Oops. I usually label things when I put them into the freezer, but I forgot to label that bag.
No, I can't recommend a guacamole/berry/chocolate/yogurt smoothie. I drank most of it because that's all that was available for breakfast, but I don't intend to try it again!
For me, berries and bananas also peanut butter, they will be good, but yeah not for avocado.
I wouldn't have minded if it had just been plain avocado, but the guacamole was not a good ingredient.
agreed :)
You know now why guacamole shakes just aren't a thing.
Yes, I certainly learned that lesson!
