Have you ever had a haunting experience in your life? Like a ghost appearing at your back while brushing your teeth in front of the mirror, or a sighting of a creature in the woods that is known in your town, or maybe aliens. Well for me, it was Tacos... It has been haunting me for weeks now, and every afternoon I would crave it and it seemed calling.

By the way, I'm sensiblecast, I'm from Manila, Philippines and this would be my first time writing to this community, and if y'all don't mind me, I'll be sharing my go-to food places and food here. πŸ˜‹πŸ½οΈezgif.com-resize.gif

Some might be celebrating Holloween partying and non-stop drinking with their costume on, while I on a hunt for food to keep the monster in my belly satisfied. Going back to my story, A Yummy Corn shell taco or birria haunted me for weeks now and so, one gloomy rainy afternoon I decided I had to face it head-on and opened my Google map and typed in...

'Taco near me'🀣

But then the weather was a bit cold and rainy and, gloomy, and the nearest Mexican taco bar that was close to authentic was a bit far from where I was I wasn't sure if it was worth the effort, do you do the same about food as authenticity dictates if it's worth going out of your way? But then I remember a place that has the same equal amount of satisfaction to get... πŸ’‘

'Maha Kitchen chicken samosa!...'

One of the foods that I really enjoy consuming and is rather comforting for me would have a curry-ish taste, with a twist of turmeric, gingery, onion, and garlic with a roundhouse kick to the head spice in it, is not just the best of the best for me but ziibeezzzoooffziiibezzz!. 🀣

Back in 2021 when most of the dine-in and restaurants were just about opening up after the "Pandemic" lockdowns, I found this small Indian-Pakistani diner that offered biryani and other Indian cuisine. It was owned by an Indian-Pakistani National, A Family of four, the wife was the one who did the cooking, and the husband was the one serving the food and sometimes doing the delivery, while their kids were just hanging around the counter.

It used to be, their diner was just a small space it was probably less than 10 square meters and it was so small you could see the nice lady cooking the food that you were ordering. So I often watch how she prepare my meal and how she makes them samosa. After the first time I went to eat at their place, I instantly loved it and kept coming back.

After a while I became a regular and got to know them more asking them, where they used to live, and how long they'd been in the country, basically getting to know them well, I started recommending them to my friends and posting them on my social media account, and because they know I enjoy their food, They would often agree to my request with my food, like

"Auntie, make it super, SUPER spicy! πŸ”₯πŸ˜›"

And the Auntie, would just ask "Are you sure?" smilingly with pure doubts on her face, but will make them anyway. One time I ordered online, and since they knew it was me, they'd be the ones asking... "Make it super, super spicy?".

After a while, they closed down from where they were before and moved to a different location, it was the first time to be back, and I was full of gladness and smiling to myself while taking the pictures.

I was happy not only because I can satisfy my craving, but because I saw the growth of their business in two years, and I was thinking to my self, If the owners can still remember me, and to confirm this, as I was waiting for my order, the Auntie who used to cook and prepare the food, went downstairs and saw me, and greeted me with her warm smile. 😊

"Hello! Long time!"

And I greeted back, "Hello! Yes, it is! Your diner looks great! I'm glad your Business is doing well!"

And she went upstairs with a big smile. I was truly happy to see her again, and that she still remembers me, and glad their business is doing well. Back when they were starting, I could see how hardworking they were, they were very kind, and I can only imagine the struggle of a foreign family trying their luck and living far away from the land they were born in. I believe anyone can cook, I can say I can do it too, all I need is the recipe, and the cooking process, but I can guarantee it wouldn't be the same as hers. She definitely adds her "secret sauce" to her dish that I can never have and that is Love and passion to her cooking! Truly glad for Auntie and her family!

Chicken Samosa

Samosa is a deep-fried stuffed pastry, that comes in veggie or non-veggie depending on your choice, and Maha Kitchen, in my opinion, is very authentic, they stuff the samosa with it great amount of chicken or vegetable filling (if anyone's not familiar, in the Philippines, most of the shops are cost-cutting with the recipes and some pastries shops would serve something like this will have lesser filling in it and it's just all bread).
The samosa itself is large as well, about the size of my palm and it only cost me PhP119 ($2.12) for Two pcs of Chicken samosa. I actually tried requesting if they could make it spicy, but the one that took my order, was their son, and most likely wasn't familiar with me but it's okay it is good as it is. Bought two orders of 2 pcs of Chicken samosa, and I wish bought more cause I finished them all in one sitting and I still want some more... πŸ˜’

But nonetheless, my craving was satisfied! πŸ˜‹ As for the TACO, I will get back to it soon! πŸ€£πŸ˜›

If you happened to be in Manila and close-by and wanting to spice up your dinner, you can find them at #71 Saudi Arabia, Better Living, ParaΓ±aque, Metro Manila. They also serve Biryani, Curry, Samosa Chaat, Mutton, Paneer, Chapati, Naan, Paratha, and Lassi.

How about you? What's your comfort food? 😊

I !LUV samosa, and Indian food in general. I agree πŸ’―% that this is comfort food. Before the pandemic, I would always pass by this vegetarian/vegan resto that serves samosa before I go home. It always refreshes the taste buds and helped brighten my day. Nice post bruh. On a side note, I wonder why I haven't followed you yet on this account. Anyways, done doing it now. All the best and good food always for the win. 😎

thanks! Now that you mention, their Samosa chaat is actually good too even served with a strawberry-like sauce πŸ˜‹πŸ‘Œ

I like the tamarind sauce with samosa. It is soooo gooood... 😁

even they look nice, reality is that fried stuff is unhealthy unless extra virgin olive oil is used

Β last yearΒ (edited)Β

that is true, but this one was actually dried out of oil, I mean it was cooked in oil, and supposedly drenched with oil, but to be honest it wasn't, not even the curry flavored chicken inside. 😊 besides I'm a filipino we eat unhealthy by default so it's all good! 🀣🀣🀣
