Pou at Medellin Dockside! (Dinner Time)

Oh, you won't believe how I and my family had such a wonderful time at Medellin Dockside! It was so much of fun, just filled with laughter, food, and the best vibes all around. The place was full of energy at the dockside, where there was music on the stage! You could almost hear the sound of the waves and smell the grilled food. My little rock heart was ready to indulge in this feast!

The food was amazing too! Let me tell you about the batchoy! It was this steaming bowl of noodle soup, filled with all the good stuff—tender meat, crunchy chicharon, and that rich, savory broth that smelled like pure comfort. I rolled up close to the bowl, curious as always, and before I knew it! I swimmed in the bowl! (Though my mom wasn't too happy, Sorry Mom!!)

There were grilled skewers, juicy chicken, perfectly seasoned bangus, and so much more. My family kept passing plates around, telling stories, and cracking jokes..
My family was bustling around. It was chaotic in the best way.

The Bangus was grilled well, with its smoky flavor blending beautifully with the tangy marinade. Each bite was tender and flaky, making it an absolute delight!

And then, somehow, I became part of the fun. Someone got the brilliant idea to wrap me in tinfoil, just like the Bangus. “Pou’s ready for grilling!” they teased, setting me next to the fish on the table. I couldn’t help but laugh along—how could I not? It was all so silly and fun. Wrapped up and sparkling in my little tinfoil cocoon, I was practically the honorary dish of the day!

Oh, you won’t believe this, but I somehow managed to devour an entire barbecue chicken wing all by myself! It was sitting there on the plate, all glazed and shiny with that barbeque sauce, and I just couldn’t resist. I rolled right up to it, nudged it a little, and the next thing I knew—it was gone!. The sauce left a little sticky shine on me, but honestly? Totally worth it. It was marinated well, I like mine a little burnt lol (much to my nanay's dismay)

Somehow, I ended up right in the middle of the table. I’d rolled over from my spot and plopped myself down between this dish! The Tuna Panga with a nice char that made every bite feel like it melted on your mouth. Its rich taste paired perfectly with calamansi! It was surprisingly fresh too

I admit it wasn’t the most glamorous spot, but honestly? It was kind of cozy in its own funny way.

Maybe it was the full belly from all the barbecue or the contentment of the day, but I could feel my energy slipping away bit by bit.

My family noticed, of course, and they found the whole thing incredibly amusing. They chuckled softly, their voices warm with affection as they helped the workers tidy up the table. I felt a little shuffle around me as someone thoughtfully tried to make room for the food containers without disturbing me too much. One of them even placed a napkin over me, as a joke (like a little blanket!)

While they continued packing up the leftovers and chatting quietly among themselves, I let myself drift off completely. It wasn’t often that I allowed myself to fully relax, but something about the calm of the evening and the closeness of my family made it easy to just let go.

The last thing I remember eating was the barbecue pork. It was well grilled, with just the good amount of fat and oil that made every bite so juicy! I especially love the— ‘fat’ part since they made it crunchy

By the time I finished clearing up my own plate, I was nestled between the empty plates and smelled like grilled pork. It wasn’t exactly the comfiest bed, but it didn’t matter. What mattered was how tasty the food was and the warmth of the moment! Having a good meal, paired with the joy of being surrounded by the people I cared about most is well— you figure out the term.

I knew this was a memory I’d hold onto (probably because the barbeque smell on me didn't come off for days! ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ) It was a day filled with good food, laughter, and the kind of love that only comes from sharing time with family. Moments like these remind me how lucky I am to have them!

Medellin Dockside is a fun outing—I totally recommend coming over here! A lot of stalls, lots of food to order and choose from! xD
