So much fried food in Texas

in Foodies Bee Hive5 months ago

During my trip to Texas I ate a lot of fried food. Some of it was huge! Me and my niece both got a Pick 2 plate and shared our items. We could have easily got one plate and shared and had left overs.

I got Catfish and Gator
Jenny got Catfish and Fried Oysters

This was my first time each all three things.

My brother in law got fried green tomatoes for appetizers. I really think it was my first time having fried green tomatoes too.

Earlier in the week we went to Ma's Cafe.

My brother in law got us all Fried pickles and I had fries with my burger. So much fried food!!

It was fun tasting all these southern foods.

Sort:

The American food portions are very large! Hubby and I ended up ordering one portion to share and still had leftovers most of the time. We also had fried food a few times, they were all done very well, nice and crisp, not greasy at all.

Yes, the portions are so big! I often take home leftovers. It is a good thing I like left overs. :) Hard to do while traveling though.

Aaanh another good reason for visiting Texas, it's one if the places that I want to visit if I can afford one day a trip in the USA

Texas is great. I hope you get to visit.

And it's ALWAYS big! LOL Hey, it's Texas.

That is right! Everything is bigger in Texas, or so they say.

You haven't said the fried green tomatoes are good so I guess you weren't impressed? :D

This is an interesting idea and as I am growing real tomatoes in our backyard-garden this year (no cherry tomatoes survived the latest weather changes) I may try to find a recipe and experiment with it. Probably a proper steak would be a good side dish for it? :D

I am pretty neutral about the fried green tomatoes. Neither really good and not bad either. Hope you find a good recipe so you can make some with your own tomatoes.
