Sounds pretty disgusting right!
I had about 20 pounds of green tomatoes left over from the garden this year as usual.
We have tried a lot of recipes with them and nothing quite hit the spot. Usually they end up in the compost, which is fine but still seems like quite a waste. Yesterday as I was pulling out all the plants I thought why not try wine and yes of course there are recipes out there. I have wine making equipment available...let's do it.
My wife is rightfully skeptical.
Cut up the tomatoes, added sugar, lemon juice and grape juice, some campden...off we go!
OG is about 1.2.
We usually make pickles out of these green tomatoes.
Next year I will try that thanks!
The results of this experiment probably won't be known for a couple years and the last thing I need is 10+ gallons of disgusting wine. :)
