Hello! It's time for another Filipino food feature! And for today, I will share to you a crunchy and addicting snack. The CHICHARON!!!
Chicharon is a pork rind or pork's skin that is deep fried. It's a food high in cholesterol but very delicious. The taste, texture, light weight, and satisfying crunchy sound when you bite it makes this food an easy favorite of the Filipinos. It's like pork cream puffs. 😂
Truly a heavenly but sinful food. Eating it must be in moderation to avoid health problems later on. However, that is easier said than done because chicharon is a perfect pair for beer, soda, and even added on some dishes. You can also eat it as it is or you can also dip it on it's special dip, the garlic-vinegar dipping sauce. You can also add red chili to the dipping sauce if you want it to taste spicy.
Just a reminder that Chicharon is a scandalous food to eat because of its loud crunchy sound when eating it. You might want to avoid munching it inside a closed area with other people like in a bus. 😆 I remember my friend and I ate Chicharon inside an air conditioned bus and it was so quiet, the sound of us munching and chewing the food could probably be heard in the entire bus. And so we bit the Chicharon really carefully and slowly to lessen the sound. Lol!
