in Foodies Bee Hive26 days ago

Welcome to Chef Straykat Cooks! Where I cook whatever comes to mind with whatever ingredients available! Sounds like disaster, isn't it? No, no, no! This recipe was tested and tasted by no less than the chef's exquisite palate! Lol!🫰🏻

Recently, I posted a photo of the omelette sandwich I made on Snaps and people wondered what ingredients were in the sandwich. It's a very simple sandwich and everyone can easily make this too for sure!

~ STRAYKAT'S EASY OMELETTE SANDWICH ~

I am not a fan of cooking in morning. Most of the time, I would eat overnight oats for breakfast but since I always have eggs and bread in our pantry, I would also make egg sandwiches. One of which that I like to make is the omelette sandwich.

Omelette and bread is a typical breakfast food as it is very easy to prepare. Okay, grab your pan and let's start cooking!

INGREDIENTS

• 1 Egg
• 2 Slices of Bread
• 1 Tomato (diced)
• Cheddar Cheese
• 4 Slices of Cucumber
• Mayonnaise
• Mustard Sauce
• Butter
• Salt
• Ground Black Pepper

PROCEDURE

(1) Crack the egg in a small bowl and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix and set aside.

(2) On a medium heat pan, add enough butter to coat the pan's surface. Put one slice of bread. To make sure the butter sips into the bread, do a wiping motion with the bread. You can also flip it and do another wiping motion so the other side would also have some butter.

Toast both sides. The bread usually gets toasted in just around 2 minutes so don't leave it unattended. You don't have to toast it so much or else the bread would get too hard. We just want to have a light crunch and golden brown color.

Don't forget to toast the other slice of bread. Set the heat to low because the pan is already too hot after we have set it to medium in the beginning. The bread will be black burnt if we didn't lower the heat. Add another butter before toasting the second bread. Set the breads aside. :)

(3) Going back to the pan, add again some butter and saute the tomato (remove the seeds.) Cook until the tomato is soft. Then spread the tomato evenly at the center.

(4) Pour the egg mixture. You can also try to lift the edges with a rubber spatula if you think the egg is going to stick into the pan. Although I use a non-stick pan, I still add more butter before the egg mixture to make sure it doesn't stick into the pan.

Don't wait for the omelette to get fully cooked. Let's proceed to the next step.

(5) With the center of the omelette still half-cooked, put one slice of the toasted bread on top of the omelette. Place it at the center and let it sit for around 2 minutes or until the omelette and bread has sticked together. We put the toasted bread before the omelette gets completely cook so that the omelette would still stick into the bread.

1000013409.jpg

(6) Carefully flip the bread so it doesn't separate with the omelette. Then fold in each side of the omelette, following the square shape of the bread. This is a bit tricky but I know you can do it!

1000013410.jpg

(7) Spread some mayonnaise then add the slices of cucumbers. Don't add to much mayonnaise as we will be putting more on the other layers.

(8) On this next layer, spread another layer of mayonnaise and mustard sauce.

1000013413.jpg

(9) Put the slices of cheese on top. This is the type of cheese I have so this is what I'm going to use, but feel free to use whatever cheese you desire to add on your sandwich!

We are not adding mayonnaise on top of the cheese. Instead, we are spreading it on the second toasted bread. Then put the second toasted bread on top of the omelette sandwich. The side with the mayonnaise faces down, touching the cheese

(10) Tadah! Now we're done! I like slicing my toasted bread diagonally. Not that it only looks good, but it's easier to eat it when it's cut in half.

Easy and Yummy Omelette Sandwich!

This is one of the fastest breakfast I could cook. This omelette sandwich may look small but it's also enough to make me full. It's great to pair it with ginger tea or coffee.

You can actually add other ingredients in it. I added bacon one time and it was good!

Now, there you have it! I hope you enjoy this easy sandwich!

Until the next recipe! ♡♡♡

It looks delicious, it's not complicated to make. Looks like I'll have to try it.

Thank you! For sure you can easily make this sandwich 😊

I will try it, hope it works.

I saw this hack on youtube but the last one is somethig I've yet to try! Will try it next time I am making my toast.

Yes, it's a quite popular sandwich hack online. My mom used to do this as well so i'm trying it now that i'm cooking my own food.

Explained very well. Im gonna try this out soon. I hope I can get that mustard sauce though. I have never seen anyone use it here.

Do you this it's a good idea to buy mayonnaise from store? We had lots of food poisoning in our area due to expired mayonnaise.

I'm surprised to hear mustard sauce isn't commonly sold over there. I hooe you find one. Don't add too much on your sandwich or else it will taste very sour. XD

I buy mine at the store. They don't take the expired ones out from the shelf? The store might get sued for selling expired foods.

Nah we have to report it to them manually haha. Some of the stores even put a sign to check before buying to get out of trouble.

I order online from a local e commerce website and sometime ago I got an expired fresh cream lol. The company was good so they gave me a refund instantly.
