Fresh-Baked Artisan Bread
There is nothing like the aroma of homemade bread baking in the oven. I could not resist making fresh bread for my family dinner this year. I made an extra loaf so that they could take one home with them too. My son was quite pleased with that little surprise as he loves my fresh-baked bread.
Making Artisan Bread
Artisan Bread Recipe
3 cups. Bread Flour
1 1/4 teaspoons Salt
1 1/2 cups Warm Water (not too hot)
1 - 1 1/2 Tablespoons Yeast
1 Tablespoon Sugar
Directions:
1- Mix flour & salt together
2- Add sugar & yeast to the warm water. Let it rest until the yeast is activated and bubbly.
3- Mix the foaming yeast into the flour until well mixed. Put the dough onto a floured surface and begin kneading. Knead the dough until it is no longer sticky adding a little flour as needed.
4- Place into a bowl that is coated with Olive Oil. Rub more oil on the top of the dough and cover with Saran Wrap until the dough is doubled in size.
5- Punch the dough down letting the air out and re-cover with the Saran Wrap to rise again.
6- Remove the dough from the bowl and place it on a large piece of parchment paper. Slice the top with a criss-cross pattern and let rise for a few minutes while the oven pre-heats.
7- Pre-heat the oven with your cast iron dutch oven inside to 475° F. The pan should be very hot before placing the dough inside.
8- Gather up the edges of the parchment and carefully place it with the dough into the hot dutch oven.
9- Cover the pan with the lid. Bake at 475° F for 30 minutes. Then remove the lid and reset your temperature to 375° F. and cook for 15 more minutes.
10 - Remove from the oven and place the bread on a rack to cool while you enjoy the delightful aroma.
