Hey Hive!
Sorry it's been a while since I shared a food post but somehow things kept coming up and messing with my schedule. Anyway, we're back to with more restaurantours!
This was from December 2024, when Sean and I went on a staycation at Hilton Singapore along the famous Orchard Road (which is full of luxury shopping). We were lucky enough to get a free night there and were initially thinking of using it while overseas but it'd be very cumbersome to move around so we figured we'd just use it here at home.
We've never stayed in a 5-star hotel before so we were really excited to enjoy what was apparently the biggest Hilton Hotel in the APAC region! We actually had this free night the whole year but reserved it for December since it's peak period and we would get to enjoy the Christmas lights along Orchard Road which are up every year-end.
I'll do a full post on our staycation another time but while we were out and about enjoying the Orchard Road light-up, we decided to stop by Sean's favourite Thai restaurant for dinner!
He's been here quite a few times with this colleagues since his office is not too far from this building called Orchard Towers, which is where the restaurant is located.

Orchard Towers is quite an old shopping centre and I wouldn't even notice it if it wasn't for Sean leading the way to the restaurant. It's actually known for being quite a sleazy place famed for sex and violence so it's quite surprising that such a place even exists along Orchard Road. The building just recently got sold to a church of all things so maybe now they're literally trying to save the place?
Anyway, I was kind of expecting the restaurant to be quite fancy-looking since it's in Orchard but now that I know it's in Orchard Towers I was pleased to see it had more of a homely feel, so it was more budget-friendly.
They even had a pretty simple-looking menu:
They had quite a few dishes ranging from chicken curries, stir fried beef, seafood, pork and veggies. Understandably, their recommendations were seafood dishes since they're the most expensive.
Although the menu looked simple they had quite a range of dishes. I think they also won a certification called Thai SELECT that endorses authentic Thai cuisine around the world, so you know it's legit.
They also had quite a few different soups to choose from, which all looked good.
Everything looked and sounded really appetizing to be honest, and it felt like Thai chinese food, or what we would call tzi char (where you order a few different dishes and eat them with rice). I wanted to try so many dishes but since it was just the two of us we had to make sure we didn't order too much.
In the end we got three dishes to share, and the portions were pretty huge that we could barely finish it!
We decided on the green curry with chicken as a main dish:
A Thai-style egg omelet that Sean said was super good and that I had to try it:
We went with a stir fried kangkong with belachan for the vegetables since it's my favourite veggie dish. They only had two kinds of veggie dishes anyway, either stir fried kangkong or kailan with different sauces.
I was super hungry at the time since we had a late lunch but the food smelled so good that just inhaling the aromas whet my appetite.
The green curry was so delicious! It was milky and had the perfect consistency, it wasn't very spicy but still had some chili for a little kick. The chicken was nice and tender and together with the curry it paired perfectly with rice.
It was also a little rainy since it was the start of monsoon season at the time, so curry was perfect to warm our bellies after a walk in the slightly chilly air outside.
Sean raved about the omelet so much I was afraid he was overselling it but he definitely did not. It was indeed super crispy and fluffy and so yummy! It wasn't overly oily either, so I'm not sure how they made it. It was probably one of the crispiest omelets I've ever had!
The kangkong was as you'd expect, a pretty standard veggie dish. It wasn't very spicy either which surprised me since Thai food is normally known for being spicy but I guess they toned it down for tourists here. It was still pretty yummy and gave us that much-needed spice.
Overall, it was a truly delicious meal and such big portions I was so stuffed after that! I would've liked to try the signature Thai dishes but this was a good first time regardless. Since we stay in the suburbs we don't really come to town or Orchard that often unless it's for work so it's nice to explore once in a while.
I'm not sure where Thai Tantric Restaurant will move to now that the building is sold, but hopefully they'll still be around for us to try more delicious Thai food!

I love thai curry, and this on looks very good with its yellow/green color. The other dishes are looking tasty as well. :)
