What is a typical Nigeria local dish?
Akara (Beans Cake) and Pap (Oki) is a perfect classic breakfast meal in many homes in Nigeria, irrespective of your level of financial stability, rich or poor, young or old.
It is a food that doesn't go wrong because of it's healthy benefits.
Akara is a fritter dish made from beans and it is been formed into a small ball size after all ingredients has been added then fried in groundnut oil or palm oil, depending on your choice of oil.
It is a good source of protein which aids to build and repair tissues in the body. Which can also be used to make enzymes, hormones and other body chemicals.
Protein is essential in building of the cartilage blood, muscles, bones and even skin.
It also helps the brain to function properly because of it's Vitamin B1 content (Thiamin) which is also very essential for children and adult.
Beans can also be referred to as a protein plant-based legume.
Akara can also be referred to as one of the fast selling street food which is commonly found at different hours of the day.
It is made with a combination of bean paste, fresh onions, pepper and salt.
Pap which is commonly and generally known as ogi or akamu is gotten from a fermented red or white guinea corn.
It can be taken as breakfast, dinner or a pre-proper meal which can be mixed with sugar, honey, milk and it can also be taken alone.
It is also known as one of the ideal food for breastfeeding mothers which helps in the increase of breast milk flow. It can also be called a well-tolerated food for those who are sick or recovering from ill health.
Guinea corn is said to contain linoleic acid which aids in reducing the risk of stroke and myocardial infarction (Heart attack) it is commonly found in nuts and seeds plant-based.
It is an energy giving food required for optimal body function because of it's light and filling nature to boost energy metabolism to get on with the daily activities with ease.
Pap is also a good known baby food which is used as breast milk complement the moment the child reaches 6 months, he/she will be introduced to Pap by Nigerian nursing mothers.
It is a healthy carbohydrate food.
Pap and Akara stapled food, best enjoyed when it's served slightly hot.
It is a great combination that enables adequate functioning of the body.

Not really a lover of pap, take it once in a looooong while tiny quantity with plenty sugar.

I love akara. I make them every Saturdays in school cause it's believed akara is a Saturday meal lol. I take mine with agege bread
