Hello foodies, are you in the mood for some delicious grub/food in pretty awesome surroundings?
BrewDog was founded in Ellon in the North of Scotland so it's fitting (at least I fluffing think so) that the first (and so far only) BrewDog pub I have ventured to is in Scotland.
159 South Street in St Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife to be exact.
I had been reading some good reviews of their burgers online and had been itching for a chance to go eat one the next time we were in St Andrews.
The ambience
They had a wee beer garden on the street but the weather was pretty typical February Scottish weather. Yeah you needed your umbrella so we went inside. We were there on the 15th of February the day after Valentine's Day. Call it another date!

So when we looked at the menu, I saw a Hoppy Meal.
Of course beer being made of hops, it was a take on the famous Happy Meal.
A burger and chips was exactly what I wanted, as well as Mrs T.
Remember the glum looking couple at the beginning?
Well like so many of these places they like you to order online or order using their app.
I took a couple of minutes trying to order, the site was so fluffing laggy and shit. Mrs T was now getting hangry. I can't be dealing with a hangry woman in public. Hangry as in hungry angry...
So I went to the bar and said I was having problems ordering online. So the guy took my order and said the price, some forty something pounds.
I took out cash, oh it is card only he said, no problem and I handed over my card.
Haha their internet was down as they could not get a signal on their payment machines for me to pay. So I said well I have cash if you need it. He then spoke to the manager and said to sit down and they would open a tab.
The couple apparantly had been eavesdropping and no sooner had I sat down, than the male grabbed the manager and said they ordered half an hour ago and where was their food!

I ordered a beer, I won't say which one except to say it was strong and delicious.
Mrs T a simple white coffee that was also delicious.
In the meantime the glum couple got their food and weren't quite so glum, although they must have been in a hurry and wolfed it down in a couple of minutes!
The Hoppy Meal
You got a burger and chips included in the Hoppy MEal. YOu could choose a hamburger or a cheeseburger.
Mrs T was in photobombing mood and this was the second photo hse saboutaged!

The chips were more french fries than chips, but at least the ends still had their skin on.
I love the skin on potatoes, and rarely peel a potato. What about you?
The old camping mug with chips 🍟
I remember the white abd blue below that would be the standard mug for when you went camping!
It gave the meal a rustic feel using for them chips. I know that is a common way for serving chips in a container so they got a thumbs up from me.
The chips were piping hot and fluffing delicious. I think they must have seasoned them as they got a 10/10 from me!

I am not a big ketchup fan so we did spry something in the condiments tray...

I do love hot and spicy things especially food!
Athough sometimes my body says no!
So the pinky test was done..
It passed and was not that hot.

I tell you what, it really was a good burger. After the chaos with ordering we were expecting a so so burger, but the ingredients were fresh, it was served hot and it was tasty.

The cool thing with that mus was that it helped the chips retain their heat being in a closed environment amongst themselves.
The burger for a pound
I had read that sometimes they have a deal where you order one main and you get a burger for a pound.
Well that was not happening, but I did see at the bar, a package with a corner ripped open that contained promo material which had that offer. Unfortunately it did not say when on the part that was visible.

I know us men often bemoan the fact that you girls always get the best toilets!
Well BrewDog has us covered. Each cubicle is unisex and is a self-contained little unit with all you need!

I do love it when places make an attempt to brighten things up. What about you?
They had a couple of the walls inside with murals and the toilet hall wall was no exception.

Verdict
It was good but we were starving, so not sure if it really was as good as it was.
I guess I need to go back when I am not so hungry to check!

Nothing beats a good burger. I don't mean that chain stuff like McDonalds either. I mean real burgers like the one you had. With real gourmet fries. One of my favorite burger joints used to be Red Robin, but our local one closed down. I loved their all you could eat fries.
Exactly I am not a fan of those chains, and I see ads for them, and they are not cheap anymore!
Much rather sit down and have a decent burger in a better setting. That is a shame about your Red Robin.
Yeah Red Robin is like a chain but they specialize in gourmet burgers and fries. Love them
Actually now I think of it, it is where my niece works part-time in Florida, the family goes there for the all you can eat fries!
The burger looks so delicious, the seeded bun looks amazing. And the fries in that cup wow. Here my mom still has pewter mugs. They do keep the heat in. Delicious everything.
They really do, and the fries were really good. I was quite surprised. You are quite right everything was delicious.
It is so funny that they have things to be online yet they don't realise that the internet is down. Ah yes, it is better to act fast when you are dealing with hangry woman, been there a few times my self. !LOLZ
hehe yes I still always carry cash with me. Technology is great, but what happens when it breaks haha!

This time I didn't buy burger because of heavy rain here. Tomorrow for sure I have it na.

I was very curious that they served the potatoes in that container, those cups were used at my grandmother's house to serve coffee.
I'm not a big fan of hamburgers, I only eat them when there is no other option, but I do like French fries and I make them often at home.
By the way, I also like them with their skin.😄
Hehe yes the containers or cups are what we would call camping mugs, and the sort of thing that we take when we went camping in the countryside in a tent!
Oh yes fries with their skin on are the best! It is also the best bit of the potato apparently

As much as people get annoyed by the unisex bathrooms these days, I prefer them. It just gives you a bit more privacy in general and that isn't a bad thing. I feel like it helps move things along better too. This looks like a pretty solid burger. I am not familiar with all the beers that Brew Dog has, but I know they lean heavy in to the IPAs. Which aren't really my favorite.
Can't lie, I loved the bathroom. To be honest they are very rare over here. In fact I can't remember the last one I have seen.
The burger got the vote of approval, the beer was more like a strong fizzy fruity soda drink!
I think if I were to ever open my speakeasy that I have talked about when I win the lottery, I will definitely have bathrooms like that.
Oh good idea, now hurry up and win that lottery!
The two big ones are somewhere over 100 million last I checked!
