Hi Everyone,
One restaurant that we went to and the kids still talk about it today was Jumbo-tsuribune Tsurikichi. We actually wanted to have sushi at Sushiro but we walked past it and didn’t have to wait so we wanted to have a try. This restaurant is known to catch your fish and cook it how you want. The kids were super excited about it as they had been talking about fishing for weeks but we never got around to taking them to a place for fishing so this is I guessed the next best thing.
We were shown to our table and given some instructions in English to ensure we followed some simple rules. The restaurant was huge so we made sure to have the kids with us all the time and remind them that the hooks are very sharp and need to be weary when they get too close to the rod themselves or others around them. As you can see from the restaurant map, there were many places to catch your fish. Each place is a different variety of fish so we need to pick something we want to eat.
For us, we don’t mind what fish to catch, we eat anything. Most importantly is get the kids in a nice open space so they can catch something so we can start eating. Master M caught the first fish and it was huge! Just a note, whatever you catch, you need to take so make sure you are ok to catch the first in front of you first. The staff came to ask us how we wanted to have it prepared. We decided to have it as half sashimi, half grilled. Master E took forever to catch something but eventually, he caught a small one (a different type) and we also wanted it as sashimi. We also got a few shellfish clam types of seafood to have them grilled and also ordered some cooked food from the menu.
All the seafood was superb. It was super fresh, I wanted to have another fish but there was just too much food. Unfortunately, the cooked was very ordinary and all of us believed next time if we wanted to eat, we would go for the fresh fish. Our kids are only allowed to have fresh sashimi in Japan as we know it’s fresh so they know what is what now in terms of sashimi.
Service here was average as I guess it was super busy and everyone was just running around. They tried to understand our Japanese as their English was not very good but we were able to get by just fine. Price wise it was on the more expensive side, especially the cooked food but for the fish it was well worth it. A full fish was around AUD 30 which even back home, we can’t even get a fish at that price let alone fresh. It was such a fun meal, the kids would like to go back again, I told them if we go to Shinsekai again, we probably will.
