Hi Everyone,
The one thing we love in Japan when the Yen is favourable against the Australian dollar is how cheap the meals are at restaurants. Japanese food in Australia is extremely expensive with lower quality and variety. So this time when we were in Japan, we enjoyed some really good food without spending a fortune. This time we decided to try ひかり屋 at Tennoji.
There was a variety of food available, with very clear pictures for each meal. We used our limited Japanese to order our meal. BB E is older now, so he would order adult meals, while BB M sometimes prefers to have kids' meals because he loves the toys he can choose from the restaurant, which comes with a kids' meal. We were shown a table where we sat on the floor, but it was pretty comfy.
BB M ordered a kids' meal with udon noodles, hubby ordered a beef rice box, BB E ordered a hot udon with sashimi rice, and I ordered a fried oyster meal. Fried oysters are extremely expensive in Australia, so I’ve been eating a lot of oysters on this trip.
The food and service were exceptional. We were pretty impressed with the size of each meal and had no complaints. The taste of each meal was great, with the exception of the kids' meal, which was a little bland, but BB M didn’t bother much and finished his udon very quickly. Such a great restaurant with low prices—a must-try!
