Hi Everyone,

On weekdays, trying to find a restaurant opened around Wannabe is pretty difficult. We have probably been to many of the high rating restaurants around the area but we ended up driving around 15 minutes from our hotel to 御殿. The restaurant was next to a lake but it was too dark outside so we could only hear the water flowing.

We didn’t have a booking but luckily they had a table for us in a room. Everyone had their rooms in this restaurant which makes it more private, love this sort of setup. The staff cannot speak any English but we made do with the ordering with our limited Japanese. We ordered various dishes including sashimi rice bowls, sashimi platter, prawn spring rolls, special smoked fish, beef offals, and rice porridge.

Once the food started to come in, the kids were right at it after a long day in the snow. The staff tried to explain to us the ingredients so it was nice they tried to communicate with us. The food was of high quality reflected by the prices charged as we found restaurants around the area are pretty cheap. The only thing we didn’t like was the smoked fish, it was too salty for us even though we had this with rice.

At the end of the meal, the chef came to thank us for visiting us and gave us complimentary ice cream for all of us. They were so kind, I think they were very happy the kids loved their food and we ate everything. Once we were leaving, I noticed they also have live seafood which is rarely seen at other restaurants in the area.
