Hello fellow foodies. Yestraday was the grand final of the European football championship, and at home feverish preparations for it are boiling. Sunday night with some of my friends we will watch the match between Spain and England at home, and for me as the host it's time to take care and prepare something interesting and delicious for my guests. I have decided to bet on a very successful recipe that I have prepared many times and the result is always guaranteed to be good.
Breaded pieces of catfish combined with a special sauce of fresh onions, mayonnaise and lemon juice.
Before I start in substance, I just want to add that I am a passionate fisherman, and the catfish I will prepare today is fresh caught by me literally 2 days ago.
So, friends, let's move on to the real part of my post, namely the recipe and the method of preparation. First of all, you need a catfish. Here in Bulgaria, where I live, you can rarely find catfish in grocery stores. On the other hand, I had great luck and a very good catch 2 days ago. In addition, freshly caught fish is much tastier and of better quality than the one you might buy from the store.
The most difficult and unpleasant part is cleaning the fish and cutting it into pieces.
Place the finished cut pieces of fish in a tray or other suitable container.
There's no denying that it looks very appetizing, doesn't it?
The fish should be well seasoned with enough pepper and salt to taste
Then pour about 200 ml of white wine into (according to the amount of your fish). Add the juice of one or two squeezed lemons, and leave the marinated fish in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
After enough time in the refrigerator, the fish is ready for breading.
For the breading I use a mixture of equal parts white flour, corn flour and 2 beaten eggs.
The fish is breaded in the following way. In a pan with hot oil, first roll a piece of fish in flour, then in eggs, then again in flour and put in the pan to fry.
I used both pans at the same time to make the breading faster.
Fry until the fish acquires a nice golden tan. It takes about 4-5 minutes of frying on one side, then turn over and fry for another 4-5 minutes on the other side as well.
And so the fish is completely ready friends, but that's not all. I still have some work to do before I completely finish my menu.
Now I'm going to show you how to make a special delicates sauce that goes great with breaded catfish. The sauce is extremely simple to prepare and at the same time it is very tasty. To make it, you will need a bunch of fresh onion, salt, black pepper, lemon, mayonnaise and one boiled egg.
First of all, you need to cut the onion into small pieces. Then you have to blanch it in hot water for about 10 seconds to soften it.
Cool it with cold water and drain it! Mix it with one mayonnaise.
Add salt and pepper to taste, a grated boiled egg and the juice of the squeezed lemon. Mix well and that's it, the sauce is completely ready.
And so the time has come to start arranging my table.
And as a good host, I decided that for this wonderfully prepared fish, I must also make a side dish of fresh salad.

And while I breaded the fish, my mother had prepared a bonus surprise for my guests, and she had prepared a great fish soup with some of the cleaned fish.
I am now fully prepared to welcome my guests.
