Hello all, we are in the midst of celebrating Chinese/Lunar New Year and while we are still at it, to find a place to have dinner is not as easy as usual days. So for today, I will be doing a sharing on a special eating place that brings comfort even late into the night. Even if we arrive at this place at midnight, there is still food available to be ordered. For today both me and my wife worked late, together with the festive season where many Chinese based restaurants are closed to celebrate the new year, we headed down to our of our favourite eating places near our house for a sumptuous meal.
The Place
Al-Ameen Eating Corner
Address: 35 Marsiling Industrial Estate Road 3 #01-11 Central Industrial Estate, Singapore 739257
Tucked at the ground level of an industrial building in the north part of Singapore, this is a place where we are able to get hot and puffy food late into the night as they are opened till 2am every day to satisfy your dinner/supper cravings and they are opened at 6am early in the morning should you need a nice breakfast place before heading to work.
As I've worked in this area for a good 15 years now, this is one place that most if not all of the staff working at my office will know about it. An easily accessed location with plenty of parking be it within the building itself or even parallel parking lots by the roadside.
Here's how the place looks like:
This is a Muslim eating place that serve awesome food. The place is very spacious with loads of seating. If you cannot find a seat, you can always search for the staff whom are wearing green polo shirt to assist you in finding a seat. There is a wide array of food choices available here packed into the amazing eating place. You can find halal Chinese food, Western food, North Indian food and many others all at this place to a point that you will be spoilt for choices and stuck at wondering what you should be ordering.
The Food
Now to the main highlight of this post, let's talk about the food that is served here. There are some food that I will find it hard to resist whenever I come here, so this will be the food that I will be introducing today in this post. Initially they are my favourite but now, they have also become my wife's favourite.
And so here's what we've ordered:
- Maggie Goreng (Fried Instant Noodles), Thai Styled
- Naan platter comprising of cheese and garlic naan
- Butter Chicken
- Cheese Fries
- Teh O Ice Limau (Iced tea with lime)
- Teh O Ice Kosong (Ice tea without sugar)
Let's start looking at each of the food item closely as I review them
Maggie Goreng (Fried Instant Noodles), Thai Styled
This might seemed like a simple plate of fried instant noodles but it is fully loaded with flavours. Different from the usual Indian Muslim style of this dish which often comes in a much redder version due to the use of ketchup as compared to this, there is additional fragrance from this Thai styled Maggie Goreng due to the use of Thai soy sauce which elevates the taste of this. What is good about the Maggie Goreng here is that the noodles are well defined without being clumpy due to additional water added to the noodles. This is one dish that I must order when I come here everytime and also at another eating place that I frequent in the eat which I can feature next time when I visit them.
Naan Platter
I have to be honest, good naan is not easy to find. Good and tasty naan is even harder to find. And here at this place, I am able to find truly good and tasty naan which is fresh from the oven (this caused a slightly longer serving time due to the freshness of the naan). The garlic naan has a slight crisp when you tear it apart and has a just hit the spot garlic aroma without being overly strong. And for the cheese naan, the cheese is well distributed and has a slight hint of saltiness to make it so flavourful to even have it by itself. And the next thing I will share will be the thing to go with the naan.
Butter Chicken
Do not be mistaken by the appearance where it looked like just some ordinary gravy with no meat. Right beneath the surface, the metal bowl is loaded with pieces of chicken that is so tender that it melts in your mouth along with the spice loaded sauce that makes up the butter chicken. A good blend of butter makes the gravy so soft and easy to spread on the naan. My favourite combination with naan and always leaves me super satisfied after eating it.
Cheese Fries
Something that is totally crashing onto whatever I ordered just now but somehow they still go very well together. Drenched in a generous amount of cheese, this plate of cheese fries with the accompanying chilli sauce is the perfect finger food especially when served hot. So do consume this fast before the fries become soggy. This is the best food for sharing and before you know it, it will be all gone in front of your very eyes.
Beverage
2 drinks that can be made together by the one preparing the drink with just the lime that is squeezed into the drink and the tea spoon of sugar added that makes up the Teh O Ice Limau. I used to be a fan of Teh O Ice Limau, but now only my wife drinks that because I prefer no sugar drinks nowadays. Either is good but I strongly recommend the Teh O Ice Limau if you are here for the first time. But if you prefer non sugar drink like myself, you can always opt for Teh O Ice Kosong.
Overall:
Another place for comfort food. Loads of variety but so far these few items are what I tend to go for whenever I visit. Other items such as Murtabak (Stuffed meat pancake), Roti Prata (Flat bread) and even Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) are all good and well done. If you are ever hungry late at night, this is the place to come to. If you want a good dinner, it is also a great choice. A fuss free eating house that is very affordable to the masses that is almost always full house.
