A month or so ago, I've posted a simple breakfast option, which is easy to make and for that I've managed to get most of the ingredients locally. I do remember one of my friends on here mentioning about breakfast looking almost as if those were mini pizza's. And so, without any more delay (it's already been a month since), I've decided to share with you my breakfast version of a pizza.
Today's version of pizza presented to you has puff pastry included instead of an original pizza dough and that's because it's a breakfast option, which will leave you feeling less heavy and possibly bloated whilst consumed in the morning.
I'll include a step-by-step instruction of how to prepare yet another simple breakfast, which sadly isn't the fastest because it takes 40-50 minutes to prepare, but the result will be tasty enough for you to not think about the time itself!
Options for toppings are the same as the one's for an actual pizza, and that is up to each individual and their preference!
Note: Puff pastry can be homemade or store bought, end product will be the same. I'll explain how to make a homemade puff pastry, in case you want to make it yourself and don't know how to. If you make a good amount of puff pastry yourself, simply divide it in how much you'll require at any given time and freeze it separately for up to a month!
Homemade puff pastry ingredients and preparation:
- 325g plain flour (not self-rising!)
- 200g of butter, frozen
- A pinch salt
- 8 - 10 tablespoons of chilled water
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (not recommended for pizza pastry, more if it'll be used for making something sweet or sour)
- Place your butter in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours, but preferably overnight so this way you don't lose time or you have to wait.
- Mix together water and lemon juice and set aside (unless you don't want lemon juice then just prepare water in a jug).
- In a large bowl mix together the flour and that pinch of salt. I’m going to sound like a home economics book when telling you this, but you need everything to be cold to yield great pastry, and thus please feel free to put the bowl of flour in the fridge for it to chill.
- On the larger side of a greater (if you have one), grate the frozen butter directly into the flour mix and stir it together. Just a reminder, the colder the butter the flakier the pastry.
- Add in the liquid, but just hold back a little in case you don’t need it all. Using your hand and definitely not an electric mixer, bring your pastry together gently, really gently. Make sure you add just enough water to bring the pastry together as too much water will not yield you a flaky dough.
- Bring the dough together to form a ball. Wrap in cling film, place in the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour. You can refrigerate it for up to 3 days or freeze to use it within a month.
- This amount of pastry is enough for one puff pastry pizza as made below. I recommend that you make twice as much of pastry to use it again next time.
- Note: Once you put pastry in the fridge and it relaxes it will get a little wetter so factor that in.
Quick summary of all the ingredients & toppings added today for the actual "breakfast pizza":
- Puff pastry (in my occasion it was a store-bought puff pastry)
- Mild smooth & creamy cheese (If it was mature than it'd act overpowering)
- Bacon rashers (as many as you personally like)
- Ketchup or other kind of sauce if preferable
- Salt + pepper
- You can add black olives or onions but that's entirely up to you.
Preparation:
- Put the oven on 200°c or gas mark 6.
- Put baking paper into a tray but don't use/sprinkle any oil.
- Place bacon rashers on the tray with baking paper and put them into the oven for 15-20 minutes.
- The reason for bacon going in the oven first is so that any fat and possible water come out, and that won't be all over your puff pastry pizza later, making it less watery and saving you from a disaster.
- Prepare puff pastry in a different tray and if it's shop bought then poke it with your fingers so it looks like on one of the photos below. The reason for it is that it'll puff up better.
- After the above step, use ketchup or any other sauce (not mayo) over the pastry.
- Add bacon rashers and place them across ketchup covered pastry.
- Get a cheese grater and grate as much cheese as you desire, but remember that what might look like a lot of cheese at first, will somehow look less when baked.
- Use any kind of vegetables if you want and sprinkle them over the cheese at the end as they should bake with it for the whole duration. I'd usually chop black olives but since I've not bought any, this time I've had raw vegetables on the side.
- At the end place the finished tray in to the oven at 200°c or gas mark 6 for 20 minutes before turning it and leaving it for another 20 minutes.
- After you're happy with how it looks (regarding the cheese on top and as long as pastry is done), take it out and remove the tray whilst leaving it on the baking paper to cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Enjoy!!!
I bet you're looking at the Star Wars sabre slicer....and yes, it has a button which when pressed makes a lightsabre sound and shines a red line over the pizza when slicing it (double thumbs up & a smiley face).
Important note: Everything apart from pastry and ketchup - (which was bought in a supermarket) is from a local produce and costs the same as if it was bought in the supermarket. I'm aware that supermarket has farmers food too. That said, most of it comes from a mass production and only some of its product's ingredients will be directly from farmers.
We can't all love the same food and no person is the same! I respect everyone's choice in what they like and thus I'm happy to see every possible recipe from everywhere in the world being added on here! If meat product is not your choice of food, please don't be offended, and I want you to know I respect your choice, whatever it may be!
Thanks for stopping by and take care.
That looks delicious! :D

That's a breakfast that keeps you going for hours 🤗
You're right, it does! And the best thing about it is, you'll feel full but not too full to do whatever you have to do after eating it 🙂
