Coffee on a rice field

Friend Cafe - Cafe klang thoong (กาแฟกลางทุ่ง)

Cafe means Coffee
Klang means in the middle
Thoong is somewhat a rice field

This place name means exactly that, Coffee in the middle of a rice field

If you're wondering what's up with this trend, coffee shops or cafes on a rice field, I remember it's started a few years back in Kanchanaburi and it became soooo popular because how unique the idea is. Nowadays, everywhere we go in the country, seems like it's quite easy to find this kind of place.

I always love the idea where the cafe meet nature. It's breathtaking, it's relaxing and all the photos taken seem to be pretty so when I see this on the map when we're roadtripping up north in Thailand, I couldn't help myself visiting the place.

This one is pretty cool! There are small little hut along the ridges. Each hut has its own seats, table and even a hammock for visitors to really go chill in the nature!

Beside that, the drinks they offer here is quite unique...

Pomelo Drinks

I really didn't expect there would be an actual piece of pomelo on top of the drink so that was a good surprise!

The most popular fruit that Chainat is known for is pomelo... You know what pomelo is, don't you? A kind of citrus fruit looks almost like orange but the only difference is that, it's gigantic! (imagine an orange with a size of your head!)Today it's a little different here at Cafe klang thoong which is located in Chainat, Thailand.

Since the province is well-known for it, the drink that they feature here is also made with pomelo and of course, we couldn't pass on it, Pomelo, lime, honey sounds like a great combination. Acidic, sweet and great aroma. I really didn't expect there would be an actual piece of pomelo on top of the drink so that was a good surprise!

A trick: You see how places nowadays mix fruity drinks with coffee. We order both pomelo drinks and a cup of americano then we did exactly just that since my boyfriend love refreshing sweet & sour drink but he also needed some energy for the drive that day so, that mix of pomelo coffee was a good one!

Drinks were good but how about the food here?

Ovaltine Toast

Unfortunately we were not hungry when we're there so we only got some snack/dessert to go along with the drinks. They do not offer any kind of bakery, instead, they offer toasts with many different topping.

Just a regular toast with regular topping so I don't think there's anything special about this one. Though if you're a foreigner passing by and would love to try Thai style kind of toast, I would recommend you give condense milk-Ovaltine a try! It's a great combo that we Thai people invented (?) (well, pretty sure we did). I have been loving it since I was a kid. Goes real good with coffee too so.. :)

Cafe klang thoong (กาแฟกลางทุ่ง) or this Coffee on a rice field was a good choice to refreshen up the day both with the nature surrounding and the refreshing pomelo drinks.

If you wanna rest, there's even a hammock provided so that's pretty chill. Feeling munchies? there are as well some food and little snack like the toast we ordered. Sure a great spot to come hang out with family, friends and the beloved ones.

The toast looks really amazing, but what's the purpose of those steps by the rice field?
